This is where they send the Olympic athletes who fail to win medals.

2 What, me worry?  Wed, Aug 8, 2012 12:45:27pm

It really kills me to hear the Right complain about "government regulation". They should visit China where there is zero government regulation. I've been there. The place is a pit. The people still live in abject poverty. They get away with this shit at Samsung because workers have no rights. While touring a number of different factories (jade/pearl), we witnessed some of the most deplorable, filthy conditions. Soot from the ovens everywhere, three massive ovens hooked into one outlet. And the work was done by little girls - slave child labor. The experience was horrifying.

I won't even get into the pollution. It was disgusting. We had a nasty grit in the back of our throats the whole 2 weeks we were there. This is why you see the Chinese wearing face masks.

If American companies can influence the working conditions in China, Taiwan, Indonesia (I suspect it's the same in all these companies where we outsource), then I say fine. Great. But if not, I don't know why we're there. Well, I do know. It's so we can buy a dress for $10.

I know someone who now lives and works in China who is rabidly conservative. I don't understand the disconnect between the conditions he sees around him there and the support of policies that will ultimately drive the US in that direction.

It's all about the money. The wealthy will still be wealthy. In fact, wealthier. What do they care about the peasants.

Does your friend tell you what China is like?

re: #4 What, me worry?

He's not really my friend, he's someone that I worked with long ago. I somehow found him on Facebook, we became FB friends and then I found out how far off the deep end he has gone. He actually de-friended me because I started debunking all of his "Christian", breitbart inspired rants about how awful the current administration is, and how horrible it is that Chick-Fil-A is being "persecuted". People like this don't want to hear facts and truth. I think many are deceived into believing the right wing bs because of "religion". And, of course, the racism and bigotry that they will NEVER admit is motivating them.
