Eh, maybe yes, maybe no.

I've seen at least one person suggest that the thing that Romney might not want to publish would be charitable donations to the 'wrong' sort of charities, from back in the day.

This is a fishing expedition, at best.

Harry Reid is a douche. And his aide gave details, then retracted. (I know the link is a Fox News link, but if it wasn't true KTLK in Los Angeles would be disputing it) And BTW, Mittens has given the tax returns he needed to. This is an idiotic witch hunt lead by a sorry little man.

re: #2 Cannadian Club Akbar

When you say he's given the returns he needs to, what returns are you speaking of? He hasn't even given a single year's full returns.

Why don't you think, during this time when tax policy is at the national forefront of debate, and Romney is running for an office that sets tax policy, that his own interaction with taxes is relevant? Especially since Romney is also part of the class of high-level financiers that are also currently highly on everyone's mind, after the meltdown of Wall Street.

John McCain has seen Romney's tax returns and knows whether or not he has paid any taxes. So why hasn't he called Reid a liar yet? It's been two weeks and counting. McCain could have ended this on the Senate floor the day Reid first made the allegations if he wanted to, but he hasn't. Gee, I wonder why?

Does anyone still think this issue will change any minds it has not already? At this point it is improving ratings far more than Obamas chances. I suppose that means the "ratings bias" will keep this issue alive well past any real effect on the election. I will be so glad when we move on to the VP pick. Or something, anything else.

The thing is, Romney's returns are a real issue, not some made up one.

Sure, the Reid claim is essentially a fauxtrage, but Romney shouldn't get away with not actually releasing his returns. It's honestly one of the ballsiest moves I've seen in politics in a while. Most politicians have some sense of shame at some point, but not Romney. He just expects it to go away.

And given the short attention span of the media, he might actually get away with it.

I'd bet he has a source. Reid has been in the Senate a long time and Romney is probably alarming plenty of rational Republicans, something not improved by his choice of Paul Ryan.

Something in those tax returns would, at the least, confuse "us people."

I agree. Reid would not set himself up to go down in flames as the liar of the year (hard as that is to do) in the case that his bluff was called.

FBI Admits to Using Drones Over U.S. Soil
FBI Director Robert Mueller admitted to Congress Wednesday that drones are already being used over U.S. soil. While the use of surveillance drones domestically -- both by local and federal law enforcement agencies -- has been long anticipated and ushered in by a lobby with a powerful congressional caucus of supporters, Mueller's admissions highlighted the lack of legislation currently in place to govern the ...

The GOP Dilemma Over the Voting Rights Act
It's particularly heavy baggage for Republicans. While Democrats and civil rights groups stand largely united behind the broadest interpretations of the Voting Rights Act, for Republicans it's a trickier matter. On one hand, they are eager to reach out to minority voters. They eagerly tout their charismatic, high-profile minority officeholders like Sens. Tim Scott or South Carolina and Ted Cruz of Texas, Nikki Haley ...

Reuters: But even the press in aggregate is not a friend to whistle-blowers, as its recent treatment of Snowden attests, what with the deep dives into his teen years (including photos), his education and employment history, his reputation as a loner and a “brainiac,” his pants-down hijinks, his online scribblings, his dancer girlfriend, his predilection for (in his own words) “post-coital Krispy Kremes.” Squeezing ...
