Some 177 Roma Repatriated by French Authorities to Romania
Some 177 Romanian citizens of Roma origin were repatriated on Tuesday night from Lille, France, Romania TV news channel informs today (Weds).
The group was sent to Romania by the French authorities on ‘voluntary’ basis. The group landed on Traian Vuia international airport in Timisoara (West) with a charter flight.
The first of group of Roma, 164 people, was repatriated by French authorities in early January.
Since 2010, the French authorities are deporting large groups of Roma from Bulgaria and Romania, in order to put an end to the illegal camps and stop the illegal activities of Roma criminals, especially the exploitation of children for beggary. The move sparked controversies and criticism from the European Union. So far, thousands of Roma have been expelled from France.
