TN GOP Lawmaker: Virtually impossible to get AIDS through heterosexual sex

Tennessee state Sen. Stacey Campfield (R) falsely claimed on Thursday that it was nearly impossible for someone to contract AIDS through heterosexual contact.

‘Most people realize that AIDS came from the homosexual community,’ he told Michelangelo Signorile, who hosts a radio program on SiriusXM OutQ. ‘It was one guy screwing a monkey, if I recall correctly, and then having sex with men. It was an airline pilot, if I recall.’

‘My understanding is that it is virtually — not completely, but virtually — impossible to contract AIDS through heterosexual sex.’

It's hard to know where to even start with this stupidity. Tell African women that they can't get AIDS from men? Or direct him to information about the links between colonialism and the spread of AIDS.

That SOB needs to spend eternity apologizing to the ghosts of all the women in Africa that have died, are still dying and will die because of unprotected heterosexual sex acts. May god have mercy on him because I'm not terribly inclined to.

He meant it's virtually impossible to get AIDS through heterosexual sex for men. Women, you see, don't count for the GOP.

Clearly he's been boning up on that abstinence-only sex-ed stuff. For example,

The lawsuit alleges the textbook used by the district informs high school students that respecting themselves, getting plenty of rest, going out as a group and practicing abstinence can prevent them from catching sexually transmitted diseases. The textbook, however, does not mention that condoms can prevent the spread of STDs.

Other instructional materials compare a woman who is not a virgin to a dirty shoe and suggest that men are unable to stop themselves once they become sexually aroused, according to the lawsuit.
