This is what happens when people say truly stupid things.

Heh Missouri Republicans should have actually looked at this guy before they decided he was their best fit to represent them in the Senate. I mean it's not like Akin doesn't have a history of making nutty statements. My guess is that the primary was a conservative circle jerk where the candidates all tried to say they were more conservative than the other while ignoring the fact that they were running to represent a state rather than fringe lunatics. Anyhow, hopefully Akin loses and loses big. His views are truly scary.

Interesting. I wonder if this will affect the Presidential race as well

I've been lurking over at FR, and according to this post:

Thanks.. I should clarify. Obama’s support has increased by 2 pts in both (referring to Rasmussen and Gallup) polls. Romney was ahead in both yesterday by 2... both are now tied. Small amount, but the dems smell lots of blood in the water with Akin, and their exploiting it. Missouri went to McCain in 2008 by approximately 6,000 votes. We have no room for error out there, but Akin may be putting the Presidential race in jeopardy, too.

it looks like it well might be starting to affect the Presidential race.

I don't trust Rassmussen - probably just doing the bidding of the party establishment and "massaging" numbers to try and get him to drop out.

Here's an at least somewhat significant figure who doesn't think much of this poll:

re: #4 Dr Lizardo

Hm. MO is now a new front, the RNC will have to dedicate resources to fight Obama there, resources it needs in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, etc.

re: #7 SpaceJesus

Ohio and Florida are absolutely crucial for Team Romney; if they lose those two states, they can't win. Being compelled to divert resources to MO, which should certainly be a pretty solid red state, can't be something the GOP enjoys pondering upon.

I'd wait for some more polls, for the long term effect.
