Needs to be published under Opinion and needs to be taken in proper context

Israeli Defense Minister: Obama Has Done More for Israel Than Any President

Taken together that offers more balanced insight

I'm sure you understand.

I wondered why it was quiet over in the other room. This opinion piece, and we know this because when you click on the link the word OPINION hits you upside the head, was published over two weeks ago.

To the sound of crickets.

I'm shocked I say, just shocked.

Oh the drama of it all! Punching... slapping... head slamming... I wonder if there was also unreported pinching, kicking, or biting...

If the article has any truth to it, the national political leadership of Israel and senior American Defense officials met to coordinate over Iran. At a minimum, the Israelis received a frank United States' assessment of the situation. This is somehow a problem? Should they instead lie to each other?

Personally, I am impressed at the level of cooperation over what both countries apparently agree is a threat to their national security interests.

Are there internal political aspects to this issue? On both sides? To misquote 'R' :), I'm shocked, just shocked find that out.

And that article is clearly an opinion piece. Gen. Dempsey is not going to "punch" Israel; He, SecDef Panetta , and Pres. Obama are all too smart for that. The only person interpreting Gen. Dempsey's actions as a "punch" would help is Mitt Romney. This article frankly reads like what Fox News declares the "liberal media" reads like. Congratulations, Ynet, you just produced a self-charactercher.

re: #6 Dark_Falcon

There is an art to reading Israeli newspapers. As I frequently say, Israel is more like a city. So, how many newspapers do American cities have, on average? It's down to one. Israel has many papers, all competing for ad revenue. Consequently, a reader has to sift through the soap opera--the highlight of which are the opinion pieces, which must have elements of Shakespearean tragedy and predictions of impending doom.

This is not to minimize the real threats that Israel faces, but saying that if the doom occurred as often as, for instance, Caroline Glick predicts, then we'd be waiting 100 years for the geography to rise to the level of unlivable desert.

re: #7 Bob Levin

Most cities have 1, but Chicago still has 2. I am quite familiar with newspapers battling for revenue and readers, as the Tribune and the Sun-Times will openly remark on their success over each other and on rare occasions gloat at the other paper's failings.

Still, your point is well taken.

re: #8 Dark_Falcon

Chicago is bigger than Israel, in terms of population? I wouldn't be surprised.

By the way, if Hawk Harrelson doesn't change his home run call, then Chicago should we wiped off the map. [This is a mistranslation.--Robert Fisk]

No, Cook County has a bit over 3 million people. But the Chicago metro area is somewhat close to Israel's size.

re: #10 Dark_Falcon

Wikipedia gives the edge to Chicago by about 2 million. Look at Chicago metropolitan area.

You can put it on booooooooaaaaaaard yuh-es!
