Romney’s omission of Afghanistan in his Tampa remarks reflect the GOP mindset of avoiding mentioning their failures
Romney is trying to defend not mentioning the war during his convention speech.

What I found interesting was that this omission of the war by the GOP was not isolated to the war. They omitted lots of past failures and glossed over recent history. It does seem like a party that is afraid to remind us what they really stand for and what they really did when they were in power. The GOP even passes a platform to soothe their militant base then gets surrogates for the campaign do damage control so they won’t scare away moderates with it, declaring Romney has a vision different from that of his party, etc.
The first rule of the GOP is don’t talk about what the GOP stands for to outsiders it seems.
I saw the Democrats embrace their ideology rather than run from it or try to hide what they stand for.
The mention of Afghanistan and the avoidance of that war by the GOP was I think a fatal shot into the belly of the GOP and one that I don’t think Romney can excuse away.
Well done Democrats. Well done.
