The whole point of sociopathy is the inability to see others as people. Of course Romney is a sociopath.

Romney has never been able to see other people as people. He can’t relate to them because he only has ever seen them as tools to be used and disposed of.

That is how he made millions outsourcing American jobs and enjoys firing people. That is why he brags about his dancing horse or when stretching to relate can only manage “my wife owns a couple of Cadillacs.” That is how he lies so easily and often. That is why likes that story he tells about bankrupting political opponents.

That is why he can imagine that all the advantages, connections and money given to him through inheritance were somehow something he did himself, and worse that others less fortunate are somehow lesser.

I don't plan on voting for the man either - but come on, "sociopath"? This is the kind of rhetoric we malign the Right for using.

Like I said, I had misgivings about using terms like "sociopath," but when you consider his past - not just Bain, all the flip flops and lies - but also some of the weird things he has do e, ie Seamus; dressing up like a cop andnpulling people over; the haircutting incident when he was in prep school...ot seems to me that all of these things combined point towards someone wbo is somethong of a sociopath. And today's glaring lie only further illustrates that, it seems to me.

Eh. Romney sucks at empathizing with people and is a liar, but none of us is in a position to diagnose those things as a pathology. We see the dude only within a rather unusual frame...when he's interacting with strangers in front of the press, and when he's speaking as a politician.

One could explain the same conduct by claiming that Romney is a privileged shithead that is unaccustomed to not getting his way. He talks a lot like people I know that have been born into wealth and have operated in a very narrow social environment as a result. The great stamp that privilege leaves on your interactions is like feudal class consciousness: people that aren't your equal don't the same kind of consideration as your equals and betters. Privilege also bends one's understanding of truth versus lies, since validity is determined by authority (which the privileged have) rather than veracity.

Corporations are sociopathic entities so someone raised serving one will take on the traits of one.

Destro, Romney wasn't raised by or in a corporation, you know.

PS I'm not defending Romney but his father was a mensch, not a corporation.

There are lots of sociopaths/psychopaths in business and in politics. It's not in any way far fetched to suggest that Romney, with his stunning lack of empathy and his creepy history of abusing animals and people is one.

Romney spent the majority of his life serving the needs of a corporation which he declared is people. I know he meant people make a living through corporations but having a corporate job is not something that makes a corporate entity a thing of virtue.

Also, Romney's dad, who is someone I would vote for in a second if he was running today, did not grow up rich. Romney grew up rich. Maybe that has something to do with it?
