Some of the "actors" (I use the term with extreme generosity) have come forward and said they had no idea the film they were in had anything to do with Islam, they thought it was just some generic "ancient Middle East" setting, like "Life of Brian"

If I were a betting man I would wager that either Horowitz or Ahmanson are involved in the background, but I could be wrong.

Interesting write up at TAM regarding how the creators lied to provoke animosity between Jews and Muslims:

Or if not, they'll see a good opportunity and try to seize it.

She's right. The focus on "Jewish donors" from the get-go immediately set off my bullshit detectors. I spoke with a Muslim friend last night and she had the same reaction as everyone here: The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

As I commented on another Page, I hope law enforcement is going to be all over these people like white on rice. I also hope leaders in the countries where the violence is occurring will have enough sense & backbone to tell everyone to STFD and STFU while the authorities try to get to the bottom of what's going on.

There is another name associated with "Media for Christ" but I'm not sure that they are affiliated with the film itself, so I"m not mentioning it here.

re: #4 CuriousLurker

The 100 Jewish doctors who were donors sounded phony from the get go. Not 102? 178? 159? Exactly 100 of them?

By the way, historical note. John of Damascus wrote about his views of Islam (not kind) as a a former official to the caliphal court in Damascus and Jerusalem and was under its protection against the iconoclastic Christian emperor's wrath in Constantinople (who was against iconic images at that time and persecuted defenders of Christian iconographic orthodoxy).

So this hysterical behavior over insulting Islam (whatever that means) we see is not historical to Islam.

The movie was never the real issue.

Clearly, it is a provocative, racist and bigoted statement worthy of Der Strumer.

Had there not been violent, coordinated protests no one would give a damn about such stupidity.

These riots beg the question- if the movie was supposed to have been financed by Israelis, why didn't the protesters target the Israeli embassy?

How it the protesters in difference countries managed to vent their anger at Americans and not Jews? Remember the movie was supposed to be a 'Jewish' endeavor. Historically, these kinds of protests resulted on attacks against Jews and Jewish property.

This event was contrived from the beginning. It was meant to be an attack on America.

On 9/11.

I disagree, and think the movie is the issue. I also think "Media for Christ" needs to lose that nonprofit status immediately. I assume the KKK can't get nonprofit status for its activities.

Slow down. Freedom of speech is still the rule in the USA - no matter how outrageous.

Yes Destro - but - political speech by groups claiming to be "religious" and therefore not having pay taxes?

The klan is fragmented. Some klan elements are non-profit.

Other elements choose not to be non-profit to avoid informational filings.

Westboro Baptist Church is non-profit.

How is it political when you are talking about another religion?
