My quibble with this would be whether there is an Exhibit B, after we all acknowledge George W. Bush's existence. (I know, the Republicans don't wanna.)

Historically, is there really a case to make for 'Republican candidates', as opposed to 'Bush', when we talk of saber-rattling leading to real-life wars? I mean, I'm thinking about Kennedy and LBJ here.

Doesn't mean that Romney isn't planning to make good on his very vague threats, (he will git tuff on international evildoers!) and God knows, I'm not going to take the chance...but I'm more skeptical of his willingness to follow through than Whitefield is.

Also, Romney will never be president, which makes him much less of a threat.

The modern Republican party has very little connection to the historic GOP. This is not Eisenhower's party any longer.

re: #2 Destro

The modern Republican party has very little connection to the historic GOP. This is not Eisenhower's party any longer.

All the more reason why the conclusion that Republicans have some special affinity for starting wars seems shaky. We simply don't have enough data.

One point, George W. Bush, does not a trend make. Fair enough to say that Whitefield thinks Romney will emulate him, although frankly, the Republicans are working hard to make Bush go down the memory hole.

2 god cursed terms as president makes a trend. The fact that all GOP candidates after Bush sound like him makes a trend. The GOP wants us to forget Bush but they still accept and push his policies. They don't claim Bush was wrong, the GOP claim he botched the job.

If there's ever an obscene noise to be made on an instrument, it's gonna come out of a guitar! On a sax you can play sleaze, on a bass you can play balls. But on a guitar you can be truly obscene! Lets be realistic about this, the guitar can be the single most blasphemous device on earth! The guitar makes a stink noise. That's why I like it!!
