Hurley Pro, Lower Trestles, CA 2012 Day 2 Highlights
Remember: these are the Top 32 surfers in the world. They’re competitive animals. That’s why they’re here. And when battling to avoid a last-place finish, things tend to get somewhat heated amongst this crew. Especially at a wave like Lower Trestles, which highlights strengths and exposes weaknesses.
Here’s today’s stat: of the 12 heats in Round Two, eight either came down to the final exchange and/or were won by less than half a point.
Live coverage is expected to resume Wednesday (tomorrow morning 7:30am Pacific) and finish on Thursday in building surf. It looks like Mother Nature will be very kind to this event over the next few days, offering the world’s best surfers a canvas of beautiful overhead surf at “the most rippable wave on the planet”. Wednesday looks to be the peak day for the swell. In terms of peak performance, this is one of the most exciting venues on the ASP World Tour when swell and conditions come together as they are expected to tomorrow. First heat in the water when the contest resumes - Kelly Slater vs. Matt Wilkinson.
