Doesn't your link say that out of 963, they "found 54 have a voting history and have voted a total of 95 times".

How does that work out to be a grand total of four?

Last paragraph in the article:

After that contest, Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer filed a Freedom of Information Act with Johnson's office to see how many noncitizens were caught voting in the GOP primary. Johnson's office said four of the 1.2 million may have been noncitizens, according to Brewer.

Ok, but now there is new evidence. The first comment was the number of people were caught.

This is the number who were NOT caught.

If I asked you how many people drive more than 10 miles an hour over the speed limit, it would not be accurate to answer with how many were CAUGHT.

In fact the whole voter ID law concept is to give the authorities a tool that they will use to catch the people who are not qualified, according to the law, to vote.

To point out that the authorities do not catch very many "undocumented" voters and then deny them the only tool they could have to be able to identify them is really frustrating.

Voter ID laws try to solve a non existent problem (namely, voter fraud). In this case, it is design to prevent a 0.000175% of possible voter fraud.

Their real purpose, is to suppress possible Democratic voters.

The 0.000175% stat is probably based on people who are caught, not the actual number of people committing it.

re: #6 Buck

The 0.000175% stat is probably based on people who are caught, not the actual number of people committing it.

It's based on the actual number of people who have voted that may not have been eligible to vote and voted divided by the total votes casted on the last election cycle.

...after Gov. Rick Snyder vetoed legislation adding the question to absentee and in-person voting applications.

Flying pig moment. Snyder actually made the right decision for a change. Though I'm willing to bet he did it for the wrong reasons.

The estimate is based on the state’s access to citizenship information for one-fifth of the population, Johnson said, adding the federal government won’t give her access to more citizenship data.

(emphasis added)

Um, need more data before drawing a conclusion? Oh, thats rights. Its the feds fault. So until that bureaucratic hoo-ha is sorted out, they'll have to drop the... No wait! There's gotta be a way to push this issue in time for the election.

Using census estimates that 305,000 noncitizens live in Michigan, Johnson’s office extrapolated that 5,064 could be noncitizens and then lowered its estimate to 4,000 to account for children, spokeswoman Gisgie Gendreau said.

(emphasis added)

An estimate of an estimate adjusted by a blind guess. That absolutely justifies voter ID laws. /sarc

I f***ing hate my state right now.

There Is No Such Thing Really as Professional Photographers
there's no such thing as Flickr Pro, because today, with cameras as pervasive as they are, there is no such thing really as professional photographers, when there's everything is professional photographers. WAPO’s Glenn Kessler Gives Three “Pinocchios” To Claim of Doctored Emails
It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it. Pfeiffer gives the impression that GOP operatives deliberately tried to "smear the president" with false, doctored e-mails. But the reporters involved have indicated they were told by their sources that these were summaries, taken from notes ...

Men Are Being Sexually Assaulted in the Military, but Nobody Is Talking About It — the Good Men Project
Our Soldiers are being raped...by our Soldiers. In the U.S. Military, annually, more men are being raped by men than women are being raped by men. I state this fact, articulating it in this manner, not to diminish what these women are enduring but to raise the level of awareness and discourse to fully include the men; they have been dropping through the ...

We know how to reduce the incidence of common medical conditions but …
Obesity is on the rise-- as is the incidence of Heart Disease, Diabetes, Stroke and various forms of Cancer. And, shockingly, diseases that had in the past begun in old age are now appearing at much earlier ages. A groundbreaking scientific study showed how easily (and inexpensively) the rate of occurrence of these and other serious illness could be greatly reduced-- but this information ...

We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, ...
