Union-busting Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has changed his stance on organized labor — at least when it comes to the NFL.
One of the ways the GOP has attacked unions is to actually turn resentment from non-union - and thus less well paid and benefited workers against union workers who get better benefits than they do. It is an amazing switcheroo. It used to be non-union workers wanted to strive to become union workers to get better wages. But thanks to GOP union busting efforts the non-union worker fears for his job. And one way the non-union laborer is kept from supporting a union worker is for the management class’s stooges, the GOP, to point out how much more the union worker makes over them.
That is why on right wing forums you always see right wingers attack how much say an auto worker makes (usually inflated via right wing math) as if somehow an auto worker’s job skills should be compensated at a much lower level and their right wing resentment attitude they are tricked into having usually sounds like this; “How dare that high school graduate unionized auto worker make a good living!!! I don’t make that much money doing the same job”, etc.
But when the right wing can’t make that narrative work against a union worker like the NFL’s referees and where the difference in ability between a professional unionized worker vs those that are not are easy to compare and contrast (thus proving the worker is worth the salary/benefit asked) the right wing anti-union meme falls apart.
Case in point:
Union-busting Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has changed his stance on organized labor — at least when it comes to the NFL.
The conservative Republican, enraged that non-union replacement referees made a last-second controversial call that resulted in his beloved Green Bay Packers losing Monday night to the Seattle Seahawks, vented his frustrations Tuesday on Twitter.
“After catching a few hours of sleep, the #Packers game is still just as painful,” he tweeted. He ended his missive with the hashtag, “#Returntherealrefs.”Read more: Gov. Walker wants NFL’s union refs back - Washington Times washingtontimes.com
