Between this and the plan to have Romney recite some pre-programmed "zingers" in the debates, the GOP strategists appear to have drifted into a nostalgic fantasy world where they're re-fighting the 1980 Reagan v. Carter election all over again. They don't seem to realise that Obama is not Jimmy Carter, and Romney is certainly not Ronald Reagan.

It's been obvious for a couple of days that the right wing media were doing their best to whip up a mindless frenzy over the "Libya Terrorism Lie" fake outrage. And I mean mindless, because the degree of idiocy required to take this talking point seriously is measureless.

I followed all the reactions as they happened. Nobody lied or tried to hide anything. The Republicans will be trying to manufacture some kind of secret anti-American conspiracy out of normal reactions to rapidly changing information from a chaotic situation. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Not to mention, none of this is exactly a surprise. They've been freaking out about this brain-dead rubbish for more than a week. Of course Mitt Romney's going to seize on it. To a large extent, his campaign has consisted of nothing more than echoing back the screams of the loudest elements of the far right.

It'll be a minor miracle if it doesn't backfire on them.
Due to their insistence over the past few years to remain well within the safe confines of the hard-right media bubble, they are so used to every little bizarre lie about the president being believed without question, that I doubt very much - despite their wake up call this past month - that they'll be offering up anything that is actually verifiable, or an actual surprise to anyone outside the hate bubble.

It's interesting that David Gregory has been silent regarding his lie about what Obama said about Al Qaeda. I wonder if that was something the right needs to start establishing a narrative.
Amateurish, if so. And to be expected.

Boy the next decade is likely going to see some real advances for the left's agenda - the right wing have really sewn the seeds of their own destruction.

"The source, however, said he was dubious about the tactic. ‘To me, it is indicative that they have lost touch with a huge portion of the electorate,’ he said."
Lost touch? Hell they're in another dimension altogether. Off World. Cruising at 52 thousand feet and not coming down for anybody.

So, the GOP is going to invade Iran on their own?

That was my first thought when I saw the thread title.

Reeks of desperation to me. But go ahead Team Romney keep on thinking this is 1980 and that President Obama is President Carter and Romney is Reagan. Seriously try something new for once instead of this tired bullshit.

Wait a second - Romantic Heretic has an idea. But, we'll help: we will send the GOP to Iran, no charge! This would include Rove, Romney & Ryan and their advisors, plus the Republicans in Congress and also, certain Supreme Court justices, without whom we would do just fine.

There.

I'll be surprised if Romney gets through October without insulting another 30% demographic.
