Obama is better for America. When did Israel become the 51st state? That the decision to vote for president of the USA should be based on what is good for a foreign country?

I think Obama is good for Israel. I've been moderately impressed with his management of a situation that had deteriorated badly by the time he took office, and I have no faith whatsoever in Romney's willingness or ability to do much except posture.

I am slightly disturbed by Goldberg's suggestion that we GOTTA vote for Obama, or OMG, loss of support for Israel! It rings a little too close to "We GOTTA vote for Romney, or OMG, loss of support for Israel!" The process he is describing of Republicans attempting to own Israel as an issue, and declining liberal support is real, but I'm not sure the answer is ever 'vote for my guy, or else other people will do something bad'. As an Obama supporter, I sort of shrug, since I was gonna anyway, but it's not an approach that's to my taste.

re: #2 SanFranciscoZionist

Israel will be supported no matter who is in power in the USA just like Italy will be supported no matter who is in power in the USA. This Israel as foreign policy fetish has to end. It is the Republican wedge issue from the Cold War (defend Europe/SE Asia from the Evil Empire now becomes defend Israel from the evil Muslim empire) transferred over into American politics.
