Whatever else this is, it is not surprising.

Busted link.

Which is buying me time. I know I'll have to agree with you on this.

As I've said here before, just where is it they plan to go? Who defines what the perfect Viguerie conservative looks like? How are they going to get enough votes to win the election?

Were Bachmann, Cain, and Santorum not far enough out on the ledge for him? They all had their shot, and I think they all lead at some point, and they all crashed and burned too.

So what exactly are these conservative "leaders" looking for?

Fixed! Thanks for the heads up.

This is ridiculous. The _only_ time Romney did well in the general election was after the first debate, where he suddenly pretended to be a moderate.

From this, it is supposed to follow that "severely conservative" is an electoral winner?

This cult member need deprogramming, stat.

Who's bringing the popcorn? I hope it's spectacular.

I voted reliably Republican every year until Bush. I've voted reliably Democrat ever since. I would rather vote with folks I both agree and disagree with depending on each issue, but at least seem capable of having a sane conversation to work it out.

Trying to have a sane conversation with Republicans these days feels like the time I tried to talk to the shrill, red-faced, psychotic Bible-thumping hellfire preacher who showed up at my college campus and screamed that I was going to hell ten years ago.

If the nutso arm of the GOP wins this civil war, the party is done nationally and will be replaced by something sane. If the nutso arm loses, we'll have a sane GOP again. I consider either outcome positive for the country.

Spectacular popcorn? What is it? White cheddar caramel kettle extra movie theater butter garlic parmesan? Just thinking about that makes my mouth water, and makes my fingers speed-dial a liposuction specialist.

...what?

I hope its the former. That way, I'll get to name the new party "the Happy Wheels party."

...what? Why do you keep looking at me like that?

I think the GOP is going to teabag even more, and aim to retake the Senate in 2014.

More right wing bad craziness, more of the alternate reality.

The GOP is the living definition of insanity.

The only people who can stop it are in the GOP. And those who would consider it won't dare speak up.

O noes! Please don't become moar consurvitiv, GOP! The lefties will be dooooooooomed!

Romney didn't get close in the polls until he moved left in the first debate. Prior to that, his right wing rhetoric was getting him crushed in the polls.

So, obviously, they need MORE right wing...

Good luck with that.

Your Weekly Peggy Noonan Three Martini Column
We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, ...

4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter. We're in a whole new world of hating people based solely on their opinions on a few key issues, and since this is unexplored territory, our conversations about politics are usually only a couple notches beyond the "hold your breath until the other ...

LAPD Reformed as Federal Oversight Lifted, City Leaders Say
Los Angeles leaders say the Los Angeles Police Department has undergone a dramatic transformation since federal oversight of the agency was ordered 12 years ago. The dismissal Wednesday of the so-called consent decree, which arose largely out of the Rampart corruption scandal and addressed basic problems of accountability that stretched back decades, delivered a largely symbolic, but nonetheless important milestone for the LAPD ...

Seems a good way to solicit ideas for touristing destinations and activities. Will have 4-5 days so some opportunity for visiting multiple sites. I hate to have to point this out, but: I DID NOT WRITE THIS ESSAY. I'm just READING IT ALOUD.
