Decent article, pretty much the same things Frum has been trying to tell them for over a year now only in an expanded version. This time he has the election statistics to back himself up with which definitely adds some finer detail and forcefulness to the case he is pleading to the GOP.

P.S.
Well that was fast, Frum already has a book out "WHY ROMNEY LOST (and what the GOP can do about it)"

I find it pretty comical how quickly Frum brandished the knives after he endorsed Romney just a couple of days ago.

Don't think for one minute that Frum has disavowed the neocon ideology.

Good warning. Here is the passage from Frum on this article which kind of hints his problem with the old Democrats pre Clinton was how they did not want to get involved in foreign wars...

When I began to pay serious attention to politics, it was the Democratic Party that housed all that seemed most obsolete and reactionary in American politics: .... foreign-policy experts who saw the next Vietnam in every challenge to U.S. power....

So Neo-con Frum is hinting that some foreign interventions should be done.....

With that said, his analysis of the GOP decline into the kook party is spot on.

Damn, that is fast.

I guarantee he had that thing written and ready to go WEEKS before the election. Pretty smart if you ask me actually.

He still likes Romney, on Morning Joe he said Romney could have made a great president blah, blah, blah...

He isn't going after Romney, he is going after the So-Cons and the "Conservative Entertainment Media" i.e. Rush, Fox, Drudge, Breitbart, and such. He isn't being two faced about Romney at all, he still thinks the man could have been wonderful and says so. If not for the So-Cons making him veer far right for the primaries and the Conservative media not giving him any room to be the "old, moderate" governor Romney that is. That is part of Frum's point along with other stuff about how out of date their party exclusivity and message is getting.

I would have liked Mass. Gov Romney better than the Romney that emerged from the GOP primary. I don't mean I would vote for him but to me it would be a sign that the GOP was moderating. Obamacare is of course Romneycare and I expected Romney to say, vote for me because I invented Obama care and I can run it better than Obama but instead we got Romney run against his own market based, Heritage Foundation invented universal health care (when at the end he was not trying to sneak in that he invented the program and sort of supported it).

Basically in a nutshell what Frum is saying is that the GOP needs to come back to something approximating reality. And that they need to quit being suckered and driven by the lunatic fringe in "entertainment media" (not news) who are only doing it for the profits.

I'm all for that, it would be a welcome change.

Well it was Romney's choice. Unless this is some kind of admission that the there is no room for dissension within the party. The idea that he would grow a spine after the fact is really farcical.

re: #4 Cap'n Magic

If only Frum had taught Mittens how to properly flip-flop, then maybe the election could've gone the other way.
