Republicans have been warned since Barry Goldwater's day against allying themselves with white supremacists and nativists (and religious fundamentalists as well). I tried to tell friends and family who voted Republican this year, "Don't listen to me, listen to Barry Goldwater." Didn't make any difference. They are too wrapped up in their own bubble to see how their party has betrayed its principles and made a deal with the devil. My brother especially has mastered the art of snide, dismissive denial of all my statements to this effect.

This is a shocking result not only because just 20 years ago George HW Bush carried Asian-Americans comfortably

Twenty years ago there was no Fox News propaganda outlet spewing the "We have to take America Back" rhetoric that now defines the Republican Party. There were no internet blogs doing the same, right wing talk radio was still in it's infancy, and even Rush Limbaugh back then could be humorous and entertaining. Religious people could still act rationally.

No more. Now the GOP is the party of perpetual war on everyone who isn't white, doesn't think "corporations are people", or are non-believers in faith-based math and science. They actually pray for their god to inflict deadly vengeance on their fellow citizens for daring to think differently than they do.

For a brief moment after Romney lost I thought maybe some sane people would raise their voices in the GOP and say we've gone to far, but no chance. The madness is just too deeply rooted now for that to happen.

Fellow Lizard Obdicut noticed this trend as well...and so did everyone else.
