As I've stressed over and over, this is all smoke and mirrors, and is based on intentionally redefining the words "oil" and "produce."

You are probably right in that I have seen lots of these types of articles. That is why I am stressing that we should move to renewable energy.

They've been fracking for oil for decades. Technology may have improved, but yeah, no long-term solution there. And not necessarily cheap either.

What interested me was the question of passing Saudi Arabia in production. Would that be our increased supply or their decreasing one? The Saudis are notably tight lipped about their production numbers and reserves, but there are experts who think the Saudis have passed their peak production ability and are wrestling with seriously declining reserves. There is a lot of room for interesting energy supply problems and geopolitical disruption there...
