Why the warning? I googled it and found nothing even remotely distasteful other than the bland medical description. It's not a remarkably invasive procedure or anything, just medically unnecessary and having a high complication rate. It's no 'Blue Waffle'.

Still, hope these ladies get some justice.

IT IS A DELIBERATE DISLOCATION OF THE PELVIS.

Quoted because I can only upding your response once.

Whomever the author of comment #1 is, I assume he wouldn't mind having his pelvis broken for no particular reason.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, but Ireland has got a lot of skeletons in the closet. Some of them with broken pelvic bones.

From my brief reading, it seems this was done during the nineteenth century and before because it gave you far better chances of pulling the mother through than a C-section. That was, God help us all, not true by the forties, and even less true by the early nineties, which is apparently when the last of these were being performed. It's like sawing off someone's leg rather than giving them antibiotics. Insane.

Never considered Ireland civilised .They act and look civilised but when it comes to ANYTHING bucking Catholic traditions , they slide right back to the dark ages .
This is preposterous and I've never heard of such a thing , especially in a "western "country .
What about the Physicians Oath to do no harm ?

Well, you know I've been here many times, and only certain hours of the day when I'm here am I asleep; the rest of the time I'm actually awake. -- I have a filler on a dat with zappa being interrogated by a couple of swedish fans/state officers(who knows)...in which they are arguing over the pornographic contents of his work. he tells them he has been spying on them, and claims that their porno industry is bigger than that of the US. it's pretty funny. btw-this is from thew '88 tour.
