That judge needs to be recalled.

This is an outrageous abuse of religion- among the other, more obvious stupidity.

It's unlikely the case can be reviewed. The DA knew in advance and it had the support of the victim's family. The sentence can only be overturned if appealed, which is unlikely to happen. Tyler Alred and his parents know they are very lucky that Judge Norman gave him this kind of break.

This judge probably thinks he is pretty cleaver for messing with the constitutional rights of someone that doesn't have a recourse. But I don't think he really thought this one through. What happens if the kid stops attending church? He can't legally punish him for it. And he's screwed the victims out of real justice that would stick.

frankly, if I were a member of the victim's family I would raise hell.

He, at the very least, should be incarcerated in a seminary.
