The rich are indeed different from us, and by different I mean delusional.

Carly Fiorina has clearly been listening to those demon sheep of hers instead of facing reality.

Good old Carly "There is no job that is America's God-given right anymore. We have to compete for jobs as a nation." Fiorina.

This rule doesn't apply if you're a CEO, of course. Then you can fuck up one company after another and just keep getting bigger rewards for doing so.

This is rich coming from Fiorina. Yeah Carly, it's so terrible that union workers get benefits but we're terrible socialists if we question why executives like you receive bonuses that are considerably bigger than the median income in this country. Give me a fucking break.

Just how little should a worker be paid? Seriously, should we open up work camps where the workers are paid in sawdust bread and water soup?

What the fuck is the GOP doing arguing like this? I never understood the GOP base being angry people earn a middle class wage because of unions.

I know they claim the anger is because union compensations are blamed for companies losing money but I never hear them complain about executive pay and golden parachutes. It is bizarre to me the GOP base argues these point on online forums.

Best I can guess is:

A) envy and hatred at union workers, especially public sector workers because the GOP base works in non union low paying jobs. Instead of anger at their employers, they are angry at fellow workers doing better than they are.

B) They listen to so much right wing noise machine in the bubble they just link unions with Democrats and they don't think beyond that.

C) Racism. They see lots of blacks and minorities in the public sector work force (post office or DMV for example) and that they hate that they have to deal with minorities and pay their salaries.

Any or all of these explanations probably plays a role in why the GOP base shows such animus to unions, especially public sector unions.

There is a reason why she isn't the junior senator from California. Thank heavens.

What class warfare? It seems that there are people who could have a billion dollars. Zillions. Everything they ever needed. But if they saw a person rubbing two quarters together smiling, it wasn't enough.

It's like I said before: Locust mentality.

They latch on, transfer as much wealth and resources to the top (executives and shareholders) as possible and the abandon ship (with a golden parachute to boot!)

And who gets shafted the most? The poor, incredibly hard working suckers on the bottom of the ladder.

Because in wingnut world, desiring a more diverse university student body = "ethnic cleansing" Fox News commentator Todd Starnes is outraged by the president of Western Washington University's deliberately provocative comment, which he has made at each of the school's past six opening convocations, that "if we are as white in ten years as we are today, Western will have failed as a university." ...

Criminalizing Expectant Mothers - NYT
Even by the standards of the growing Republican assault on the lives and rights of women, a new bill passed by bipartisan majorities in both houses of Tennessee's Legislature recently stands out for being meanspirited and counterproductive. If signed by the state's Republican governor, Bill Haslam, the legislation would give Tennessee the dubious distinction of being the first state to specifically authorize the ...

Calgary stabbings: How knife crime in Canada can cause ‘moral panic’
What Calgary police chief Rick Hanson called the "worst mass murder" in the city's history didn't end at the barrel of a gun. Instead, the 22-year-old suspect identified on Tuesday as Matthew de Grood is accused of entering the kitchen at a house party, taking "a large knife" and using it to fatally stab four men and one woman, all of whom were students ...

Back Story of Yasiel Puig’s Journey to America Should Concern Dodgers
Seemingly from the moment Cuban refugee Yasiel Puig showed up at Dodger Stadium out of nowhere, arriving last June unwilling to discuss his unknown background, the talk behind the batting cages has been rife with unprintable rumors. There were rumors Puig was smuggled out of Cuba by members of a Mexican drug cartel. There were rumors he still owed the smugglers money, and ...

New York Electoral College: State Joins National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
Ben Mathis-Lilley, Slate: New York Electoral College: State Joins National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Instead of pushing for a Constitutional amendment, which would have to be ratified in 38 states, advocates ask individual state legislatures to pass an agreement: that they'll pledge all their presidential electors to the winner of the national popular vote as soon as enough other states pass the law to ...

Russ Campbell’s Blog: Will Trudeau’s Party Pay for His Ill-Chosen Words?
Justin Trudeau has talked himself into a defamation lawsuit that is likely to leave his party quite a bit lighter in the wallet.  Frank says:

In every language, the first word after "Mama!" that every kid learns to say is "Mine!" A system that doesn't allow ownership, that doesn't allow you to say "Mine!" when you grow up, has -- to put it mildly -- a fatal design flaw. From the time Mr. Developing Nation was forced to read "The Little Red Book" in exchange for a blob of rice, till the time he figured out that waiting in line for a loaf of pumpernickel was boring as f*ck, took about three generations. ... Decades of indoctrination, manipulation, censorship and KGB excursions haven't altered this fact: People want a piece of their own little Something-or-Other, and, if they don't get it, have a tendency to initiate counterrevolution.
