I'm glad to know that advocating genocide is not a good way to advance your career in the Army.

From the article:

Dooley’s response was to go after Dempsey. He hired a law firm that portrayed him as a free-speech martyr and threatened to sue the Chairman. (It hasn’t.) ...

Ah, yes, another free speech martyr. Here, have a cookie... *shakes head*

So now he shuffles papers at a desk, good...

In April, Dempsey’s aides who oversee military education shut down Dooley’s elective. The course taught senior officers that “there is no such thing as ‘moderate Islam’” and considered the “historical precedents of Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, [and] Nagasaki” as applicable in such “total war” against the religion Dempsey called Dooley’s course “totally objectionable.”

Some things cannot be reduced to a single slogan or sound bite.

Islam is not the problem nor has it ever been the problem.

The problem is the politicization of the religion and those who benefit from manipulating populations to resent and resist democracy.

That is a lot harder to deal with than simply painting Islam as the culprit.

Blaming the boss is seldom a good career move.
