A classic case of the right wing pro-gun lobby pushing through crazy legislation that nobody actually wants or needs.

Concealed weapons in a college dorm. What could possibly go wrong?

1. No women want to be in that dorm.
2. Not even the men who love guns want to be in a dorm without women.

re: #2 Charles Johnson

You know I'm a gun guy. I'm with you on this one. I'm surprised no one at all wanted in but the facts are the facts. You can't mix guns and alcohol. Or parties. Why would anyone need a gun in a dorm? How can you keep it safe from anyone else? Hey I carried for work as needed as a young guy in the jewelry biz with his own store. I never carried it to a party. Or the classes I took part time.

It's like thinking you need a gun inside a place already well guarded. What for? My hunch is the ccw permitted students don't want them for college. They want them for the when they need them. College ain't it. Really carrying is a PITA. Especially in a crowd sure to have plenty of anti gun folks.

... or

3. What's the advantage of having a gun if everyone else has one too? Might as well not have a gun at all!

So if you don't like crowded dorms and roommates then you just need to buy a gun. That way you will have an entire dorm all to yourself, winning!

I don't blame them.

My first thought?

One of those dorms would no be a good place to set off a string of firecrackers, or would be if you're evil enough.

Hmm. Young men. Alcohol. Firearms. This is not a positive combination.
