Stand you ground laws have sure taken away a lot of the creativity in criminal defense.

Sadly, the only way these laws are going to go away is if WHITE kids start getting killed by them. Marissa Alexander doesn't seem to have been able to save herself with these laws - but, then again, she's black, too, as well as a woman. And she didn't even kill her abusive husband.

We went over that case a good bit when her sentence was handed down. The judge disallowed an SYG defense, because he ruled that she had lost the right to claim self defense when she reentered her house, on the normal self-defense rule that once you have exited a 'zone of danger' you must not reenter it.

[Gotta love someone who provokes a confrontation, commits murder and then claiming protection under “stand your ground”.]

After fleeing the scene where he "stood his ground."

This stupid fucking Stand Your Ground law is leading to a lot of unnecessary deaths and giving a lot of stupid idiots rationale for killing other people.

Foggy Morning

Washington, D.C., Handgun Carry Ban Is Ruled Unconstitutional
I agree. Bans are not an option. Jurisdictions like DC will just have to deal with the fact that regulation is the path. Bans don't work. Bans are illegal and unwise. It's simple. we as a society have chosen to ...
