Part of the anti-Israel narrative is to compare life in Gaza to the aforementioned ghetto. It is simply not an accurate comparison. That's all.

What happened in the case of Gaza was the 6 Day War of 1967. Israel seized Gaza along with the Sinai Peninsula. When Israel and Egypt signed the Camp David Accords, Israel returned the Sinai, but Egypt decided they did not want Gaza back.

People in Gaza have their own houses, Destro, and Israel does allow in cement and other construction materials (though it does monitor their use) as well as provide Gaza with the fuel that runs its power plant. But Israel isn't the government in Gaza anymore; Hamas is. So if people in Gaza don't have a proper home, that is not Israel's fault.

And as a friend of mine mentioned to me, if Gaza is an open air prison where people live with no roof over their head, where the hell does all the aid money sent to Gaza go????????? And who, exactly is responsible for the lack of roofs - wouldn't it be Palestinian gov't?
