So you may have seen in the news this weekend that the U.S. Military Academy’s Cadet Chapel at West Point hosted its first same-sex marriage on Saturday. When I first heard of this event on Sunday morning it caused me to stop and spend a minute pondering this welcome proof of the movement this country has made towards equality and away from senseless bigotry.

I also knew that unfortunately not everyone would welcome this type of change, something I assumed would be readily apparent after only a moment or two spent on any number of “Conservative” web sites. One of the largest sites by number of users and volume of traffic is of course Free Republic so I decided to see what their reaction to this story was.

It seems that I was correct in my assumption…

This may be “the abomination of desolation spoken of in the Book of Daniel.” Those were the words of Jesus, referring to some future event after which a huge catastrophe would occur.

Other internet people have made a note of this, that gay marriage is ‘the abomination of desolation’ but, standard Bible commentary on ‘the abomination of desolation’ is that it represents the pagan Romans putting up statues of their gods to worship in the Temple of Jerusalem around 60 AD.

Let the reader decide: Which is the greater abomination?

If you have been inside this wonderful chapel, it is so impressive, as is West Point, that it defies description. The whole campus, especially this building, embodies virtue and morality more than anything. You get the impression West Point is a religious shrine. And this chapel is the greatest focus.

For these two lesbians and their misguided family and friends (and the officiating pastor) to do this is inflammatory and needs to be protested.

Shame on these heathens and shame on the officer corps of the USA.

May they burn in hell.

They were in the military BEFORE don’t ask, don’t tell, therefore they were in the US military ILLEGALLY and should now be charged and prosecuted. Same thing as an illegal Mexican being in the states 20 years, then all the sudden turning himself in. Prosecutes the bastards! And that worthless queer-loving Episcopalian ‘preacher’, who calls himself a chaplain should be prosecuted for allowing this travesty in a military chapel. The DOMA is still alive and well in the US military. Kick this God-hating creep to the curb. He is not fit to preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And, to my military compatriots, please remember that you’ve sworn allegiance to the Constitution, not to a stinky, smelly, sceptic t*rd currently oozing around the White House, a t*rd that did all he (it) could to null your vote.

Sooner or later, you’re going to be called to support your pledge.

I think that is probably a sufficient sampling to give you an idea of their feelings about this, but I wanted to post one more short comment. This one shows perfectly just how little their supposedly patriotic justifications have to do with any of this.

Say, maybe that Benedict Arnold chap wasn’t all bad after all? When he tried to turn over West Point to the British, he undoubtedly foresaw this travesty.

Because committing treason against your own country is perfectly OK if your doing it to deny LGBT people their rights? So much for their claims of being motivated to this level of hate and bigotry by patriotism, as you can see that is just a load of…uh…t*rds.
