Go to the Moon! only $1.5 Billion!
Several news outlets are reporting that a bunch of former NASA executives and people are putting together a company to send people to the moon. 1.5 billion per pair of people.
This is actually not as crazy as it sounds. Their intended customers are Countries, not people. Can you imagine how annoyed the Chinese would be if the Japanese got a couple of their Astronauts up there before they did!? And the Japanese probably know it. The Indians keep throwing up useless underfunded missions that fail before they get there, for no other reason than National Prestige. I bet they’d be interested.
They want to use existing rockets, but I’m not sure there are any working Saturn Vs anywhere. The SLS has been a disaster of budget over runs. So I’m not sure what they will use to get out of LEO.
