LOL....that ONE WAY ticket home is gonna cost alot .
End of the World happens every so often . I remember as a kid sometime in the Early 60's , my Mom took in a family of Jehovahs Winesses .They converged on Yankee Stadium after selling all that they owned , to await the End of the world . Out of sheer pity and compassion , Mom let them stay for about 3 weeks .They were kind and gentle folk from W .Virginia ,I didn't understand what was going on , but they had kids my age so , it was interesting and of course for a 10-11 yr old , balls of fun . Mom , being Jewish did not even have to ask them not to prosyeitize , it was understood , and a matter of mutual respect . Mom simply explained that they were poor people down on ther luck ,and it was our place to exercise Tszedaka [charity ] .Several years later I fully understood the import of that families situation .

People here in China have been clearing the stores of candles, to prepare for the coming three days of total darkness.

The connection between the Sun's siesta and electric utilities eludes me, but such is the nature of hysteria.

Let's hope they realize they are idiots. I fear that there may be mass suicides. We have been told for years now that there is a subculture of apocalyptic believers, and that many may be fanatical enough to kill themselves... It's my hope that the believers aren't as fervent as the media and the internet have been letting on. My hope is that the phenomenon is more of a hyped viral campaign to bilk people and capitalize on the same types of people that Y2K attracted, as cynical as that is... It beats waking up on 12/22 to reports of mass death due to mass idiocy.

If it's end of the world, how is a plane ticket to anywhere in the world going to save your paranoid sucker ass?

So what would be worse? Knowing your next door neighbor was on "Jerry Springer" or "Doomsday Preppers"?
