They don't say. But yeah when Republican audiences boo openly gay soldiers, chant let him die, etc.

So far the GOP thinks it just has to massage its message. But you can't put lipstick on that pig. They can still be a conservative party, but they can't be a racist, homophobic party and win. It could turn around quickly with the right candidate; the Democrats looked hapless from 72-88, then Bill Clinton emerged and they recaptured the Center.

Precisely. Stop listening to idiots like Limbaugh, Beck, and company would help. They need a Clinton like figure. Someone young and without the dogmatic approach to social issues. Despite what they believe about my generation, we're not turned off by their economic views by and large, it's the social views.

And they can keep conservative social values that are positive. You can be pro-marriage without being anti-gay marriage, and you can be pro-life without being anti-contraceptives and reproductive health care for women.

What they desperately need, more than anything else, is a Republican with the status, gravitas, and onions to expel those lunatics from the party. Unfortunately there is no one like that in current leadership or on the horizon. They're screwed for a long time unless they can get rid of the nutters....and I don't think they can

That's like asking a crack house to clean itself up. Because, in my opinion, the GOP consists mostly of anger addicts and their pushers. Addicts rarely give up their addiction. Indeed the thought rarely occurs to them that they have an addiction.
