Four-Year-Old Shot in Drive-by Shooting Taken Off Life Support
The family of four-year-old Ayden Perea, who was shot in the head Saturday night during a drive-by shooting, has taken him off life support.
Family members tell us the bullet caused major damage to his brain, and after doing one last cognitive test early Tuesday morning, they made the heartbreaking decision to let him go.
Family members tell Fox4 Ayden and his father were visiting relatives Saturday night at a house at 24th and Denver on Kansas City’s east side. That is one of the hot spots identified by Kansas City, Mo., police for the high number of violent crimes in that area. His father had just put Ayden in his car seat when a gunman pulled up to the house and opened fire, hitting the four year old in the head.
