So the Senate and the President have no responsibility here what so ever?

Seems impossible to me that so many can be so partisan blind, but here it is.

re: #1 Buck

So the Senate and the President have no responsibility here what so ever?

Seems impossible to me that so many can be so partisan blind, but here it is.

The only one who is blind is you.

Section. 7 (of the US Constitution).

All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States: If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.

Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States; and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him, or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to the Rules and Limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill.

The House, and John Boehner especially, are skirting their duty, as provided and expected by the Constitution of the United States of America.

The President does NOT propose revenue bills. The Senate MAY propose bills, but bills for raising revenue is supposed to come from the House.

Yes indeed, some people are so very partisan blind. But it ain't us.

The Republicans can do simple math and figure out how many votes they're blowing with this.

It's gonna ring hollow next time they say "jobs" to those people they cut off.

4 Romantic Heretic  Fri, Dec 28, 2012 11:33:22am

Look. The poor are sinners. The unemployed are judged by the priests to not be faithful enough. If they obeyed the faith, if they were grateful for the beneficence of the priests, that is longer hours and less pay so the employed can indulge more in the holy ritual known as 'work', then they would not be unemployed. If they hadn't sinned they would still be working.

Sinners should not be rewarded for sinning. They should get on their knees and beg the priests for a job, any job no matter what conditions and pay. Then they would be allowed back into the faith and they could worship forever. Or the end of their lives which will come much sooner as slaves rarely live long.

/// because if I didn't laugh I'd cry.

re: #2 Joanne

The President has said that he wants a balanced approach.

So far he has only made speeches about the cuts.

Have you seen anything from the CBO rating the cuts that the president has put forward?

Why not?

Because there is nothing about cuts in writing. And why is that?

Because the cuts he is talking about are not real.

Basically they are cuts to future spending. A bit like buying a Ferrari and figuring that the money will come from the Rolls Royce that you are going to skip buying.

re: #7 Kdizzle

Why the fuck do you even care about this?

Because you know that false equivilancy thing that goes on in the media, mostly due to Faux News's influence?

"It's ok that the Republicans are slime, all politicians are! The Democrats do it too! It's not a scandal because a Liberal did something not-the-same-at-all 20 years ago!"

That's a HUUUUGE security blanket to some people. To the point that if they see a train coming, their instincts aren't to demand Boehner let them get off the tracks, but to put the blanket over their head and chant "it's their fault too" over and over again.

We have GOT to see a shakeup in 2014. And the Democrats need to start undoing this gerrymandering as soon as they are able to.

All thats left I guess in for you to renounce your Canadian citizenship. Forfeiting your rights to universal healthcare, a living wage, and other world leading labor rights that your country is known for. And then relying on the American system of for profit medical care which is trending to the point where most employers aren't even offering it anymore to their employees, barely survivable level wages, and the right to work laws that my country is known for.

But you are probably just a big fucking hypocrite happy to use the same services that you demand the American people never be able to experience. Is this dislike of Barack Obama pretty prevalent in the Canadian Conservative Party? I have my doubts. Seeing as Canada hasn't turned into the optimism sucking shit hole thanks to a largely gerrymander emboldened group of nihilists doing everything in their power to make sure our people suffer to the highest extent possible for having the gall to elect a man that thinks maybe a wealthy man should pay a slightly higher rate on his taxes than the same person manning the cash register at Micky D's or Wal-Mart.

Seriously this weird sado-masochistic desire you have for an American Sociopathic Conservatism coming to bat in Canada is fascinating. Terrifying as well.

Thankfully, as a newly landed Canadian, selfish assholes like Buck are in such a minority they're virtually non-existent. Thank the heavens!

Except for the helmet-haired horror named Stephen Harper who currently occupies the post of Prime Minister :( By far the most dangerous and destructive we've ever had. He's frequently bragged that we "won't recognize Canada" once he's done with it. I can only hope the damage he's doing to us won't end up being irreversible.

Holy Crap, This Stop-Motion Film Was Made by Animating Drops of Water
Stop-motion animation already requires saintly amounts of patience, but it's especially tricky when you're working with a medium as messy as water. In the making-of video below (folks who don't speak Portuguese should turn on the translation captions), animator Rodrigo EBA! explains how he put Cachoeira together--and it wasn't easy. He was hoping to use larger areas of water, but found that with ...

Bloomberg Plans a $50 Million Challenge to the N.R.A.
Michael R. Bloomberg, making his first major political investment since leaving office, plans to spend $50 million this year building a nationwide grass-roots network to motivate voters who feel strongly about curbing gun violence, an organization he hopes can eventually outmuscle the National Rifle Association. Mr. Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, said gun control advocates need to learn from the N.R.A. ...

FCC’s Rules for Spectrum Auction May Level Playing Field for Small Carriers
On Monday evening, Re/code wrote about the complicated set of rules that the FCC's wireless bureau is hoping will be adopted for the TV spectrum auction that will take place in 2015. According to these restrictions, carriers with lots of spectrum like AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint could be prohibited from bidding on up to one-third of the auctioned-off spectrum in a given area, ...

Women on Front of Bundy Standoff - the Latest From the Front
But the scene above took place four years before Monica, in 1994, long before Clinton handed his enemies a scandal on a platter that seemingly made such references acceptable. It was not at a Republican caucus or Christian Coalition meeting, but at a gathering of right-wing "Patriots" who had come to hear about forming militias and common-law courts and defending their gun rights ...

Russ Campbell’s Blog: Military Threat Is Essential to Effective Diplomacy

North Carolina Appeals Coal Ash Ruling
There's a lot of very weird stuff going on in the newly insane state of North Carolina. The state has a problem with coal ash, and with its groundwater, and with the reluctance of Duke Energy to clean up, among other things, the 39,000 fking pounds of the gunk that it spilled into the Dan River in February. The state's Environmental Management Commission ...

 Frank says:

Americans like to talk about (or be told about) Democracy but, when put to the test, usually find it to be an 'inconvenience.' We have opted instead for an authoritarian system disguised as a Democracy. We pay through the nose for an enormous joke-of-a-government, let it push us around, and then wonder how all those assholes got in there.
