Christ. That asshole deserves a quick shot in the mouth more than just about any human being I've ever read.

Just when you think they couldn't be bigger dicks. "Suck it up" Really? That's your advice. Tell that to someone who lost their home or better yet tell that to someone who lost a family member in Sandy. Fucking Randian pricks.

Every time I see this nonsense I wish there was some way we could run an experiment where half the country has the opportunity to be an Objectivist paradise, and the rest of us can muddle through paying taxes and helping each other out. In a few decades we could see who is happier and more successful.

Within a year the Objectivists would be plotting raids on the other half of the country for food / wealth / slaves. Those types are not capable of surviving in a society where they are actually expected to contribute at all, they are a symptom of poisonous amounts of affluence.

Yeah, those liberal blue states need to just "Suck It Up." It makes me sick the way these people are whining about getting a little water into their homes. Why is this even the governments problem in the first place, don't they have insurance?

They just need to grab a hammer and get to work! (or maybe a shovel?)

What if facilities storing fertilized eggs were damaged or a brain dead bulimic with a feeding tube in her throat was in trouble due to Hurricane Sandy? Then I imagine the right-wing would say the federal government needs to get involved.

They'd get more outraged if their favorite country club got a bunch of water hazards.

There was a really great book already written about an Objectivist paradise. It's called Lord Of The Flies.

One of the other things I wonder about from time to time is, with all those important and productive people in Galt's Gulch, who cleans the toilets or hauls the trash?

10 Tigger2  Thu, Jan 3, 2013 9:10:55am

Well I hope that statement turns some of the east cost Republicans into Democrats.

They will invent machines to do those things! and make peanut butter sandwiches!

A real Galt's Gulch would be like the Jamestown settlement populated only by self-declared "gentlemen", without John Smith to set them straight and force them to work. They'd starve to death.

The one universal trait I've noticed about Randroids is they inevitably have a ridiculously high and inaccurate self-opinion about their own ability to produce something useful. They certainly can't without the surrounding infrastructures they excoriate. For some reason, they seem to think Ayn Rand was talking about THEM when classified only a select few as productive. In reality, anyone who has time to sit around and read that long-winded 1000+ page book probably isn't very productive at all.

I would end up something like this.

re: #12 SidewaysQuark

I'm happy to report that I'm not one of those special "productive" people. On the other hand, I do cook, sew, clean, garden and tinker with things so you might just want to get on my good side in case of an apocalypse...

ARGH!!British Ad Campaign Uses Image of Old Pregnant Woman to Scare Women Into Having Babies Younger
While pregnant teens are being shamed for making bad choices in the US, a new ad campaign in Britain is tackling the other side of the spectrum with an arresting image of a pregnant old woman. The campaign, sponsored by the pregnancy testing company First Response, purports to warn young women that their childbearing years are numbered. The average British woman bears her ...

The second-highest official in the Archdiocese of Newark is stepping down in the wake of a sex scandal involving a former priest accused of violating an agreement with law enforcement barring him from working with children. Iowa Republican Senate Primary 2014 a Free-for-All - Alexander Burns
And the Republican field is likely to keep growing: state Sen. Joni Ernst, Secretary of State Matt Schultz and Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker have expressed interest in the race. Mark Jacobs, a wealthy former oil executive who heads an education nonprofit, has also popped up at local GOP events in recent weeks and met with the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Democrats, meanwhile, ...

An Interplanetary GPS Using Pulsar Signals
Spacecraft could determine their position anywhere in the solar system to within five kilometres using signals from x-ray pulsars, say astronomers. Navigating in space is a tricky business. The usual method relies on Earth-based tracking stations to work out a spacecraft's distance using radio waves, a process that is accurate to within a metre or so. That's fine for the radial distance, but ...

4 Reasons ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ Is Secretly About Drugs
Nice, right? Anyway, here's my thesis: Raiders of the Lost Ark is not an action-adventure movie about an archaeologist who plays by his own rules and saves the day. Instead, the film is an exploration of Marion Ravenwood's crippling drug addiction. An addiction that was born from her unhealthy relationship and continued association with Indiana Jones. Is it true? Who cares. Can I prove ...

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R-PA) brushed away a question about Latinos working in his administration during a roundtable discussion at The Union League in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday, telling the moderator, "If you can find us one let me know": MODERATOR: Do you have staff members that are Latino? there's no such thing as Flickr Pro, because today, with cameras as pervasive as they are, there is no such thing really as professional photographers, when there's everything is professional photographers. WAPO’s Glenn Kessler Gives Three “Pinocchios” To Claim of Doctored Emails
It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it. Pfeiffer gives the impression that GOP operatives deliberately tried to "smear the president" with false, doctored e-mails. But the reporters involved have indicated they were told by their sources that these were summaries, taken from notes ...
