Makes you almost yearn for the days when they claimed Lincoln as one of their own but at least this is honest.

Watching a documentary series about the civil war, I was really struck by the similarities between the wave of panic and butthurt that attended Lincoln’s presidency and what we have seen since Obama took office.

Illinois Republicans do not forget Lincoln, and we still proudly claim him as our own.

True enough. But I’ll tell you this much. As the Republican party becomes more and more about states rights and less about human rights, they lose their link to Lincoln. I was glad to see though that the Illinois GOP chair came out in favor of marriage equality which is something more Republicans need to do.
