You need to fix your title so it doesn’t just say “Little Green Footballs”.

Or they’ll go nuts on him like they did LostLakeHiker over the same mistake. (followed by a horrible thread of people talking past each other and making ridiculous assumptions about how other people think, LLH being the worst offender.)

As VB said,

Looks like an example of what happens when you use the LGF Bookmarklet tool from the Pages dashboard.

Yeah, but WofO doesn’t have the history LLH had, at least not that I’m aware of. It did get kinda out of control, then again…gah. Sometimes things get messy here.*

Yeah, I guess if you use from there it would indeed behave that way. I never do it like that, so I wouldn’t have noticed

Mmmkay, I’m not sure how somebody could miss that the title of their page is “Little Green Footballs,” but I put in some code to filter out that phrase from the title when you click the LGF Pages bookmarklet from a page at LGF.

William of Orange - you can put a real title on this post any time by clicking the little pencil icon at lower right of the post.

People can look right past all sorts of things by focusing on one detail of what they’re doing and tuning out other aspects without knowing they’re doing so. It’s the nature of human attention.

You’re an exceptional person Charles, don’t assume everyone else is as intelligent and alert as you are. I think LLH made a simple mistake in the other thread and it spun out of control. Your software fix should ensure it never happens again.

If he had only made a simple mistake the comment stream wouldn’t have happened… and you know that. The poster is responsible for his/her posts.

You’re wrong. It was a mistake followed by a lot of idiocy all around.

Whether LLH made a mistake with the title of his entry or not is immaterial. LLH had a pathetic agenda to make himself a victim by attempting to start a flame war. It failed. He was ceremoniously mocked and deservingly so.

re: #9 JeffFX

I can certainly understand the initial botch of the Page title, but there was no reason, I repeat, no reason whatsoever, for him to react as he did. The first comment on the Page asked what it had to do with Little Green Footballs - even if LLH didn’t notice at first his Page was mistitled, how could he miss it then? Plus, he had a history of passive-aggressive complaints about this site’s content, so subsequent commenters were seeing his reactions within that context.

If you’re unfamiliar with the context I’m talking about, because you didn’t see those older threads, please don’t assume others were out-of-line just because they brought up things you personally didn’t witness.

This is the second posting with such a title - I am starting to think they are robot postings - no one is around to look them over.

I would if I could find an Edit button…

There is a pencil in this reply window but not in the main one. IE problem?

Edit:
I opened the same post in Chrome and saw another extra symbol that was not present in IE, an exclamation mark to report the post.

It’s at the bottom of your post, right next to the little chiclets on the right.

Still don’t know where the edit button is but here’s a screenshot of the difference between this page in Chrome and IE.

Look at my screenshot. I’m missing something in my screen…. What browser should I use? Firefox shows me the same info as Chrome.

Hmm, that’s odd. Are you running a script blocker that might be preventing them form appearing? I use Firefox and don’t have any issues with the buttons.

Maybe you should send Charles an email. Tell him what’s going an and to come look at your screenshot.

19 William of Orange  Thu, Jan 24, 2013 5:42:22pm

Finally been able to edit it via my Samsung Galaxy SII. Totally annoying since the screen jumped from left to right constantly.

The title is correct now. I did see the mistake in the title as soon as I posted it but not seeing an edit button made it impossible for me to correct it. Don’t blame me for it, the button simply wasn’t there (for me). Other than that, I love to contribute more pages now that I get the hang of it but I need to make it correct at the first go.

Also, I still don’t understand why I cannot be logged in simultaneously with my phone and desktop. Logging in with my phone means that the desktop automatically signs off, and vice versa.

Get bent.

It may have been a mistake on LLH’s part over the Page title, but it was the content of the Page itself and LLH’s subsequent pity party that culminated in LLH flouncing.

That was all on them.

re: #19 William of Orange

The pencil icon only appears if you are logged in to your account. The screenshots you posted show what the page looks like if you’re not logged in.

Simultaneous logins on more than one device are not possible, for security reasons.

re: #22 JeffFX

When he concluded the story with something like “Actual news. Factual source”, he was being passive-aggressive, no matter what the title was. That’s what he set out to do, cock a snit. It was childish.
