Oh My! Thank you Anderson Cooper and George Takei!

Takei is just about the greatest thing to ever happen to gay kids, and a personal hero. He’s just so utterly cool.

Did anyone ever think even 10 years ago that Sulu would be a role model? Of all the Star Trek cast, George Takei would be the most prominent?

How kewl is that?

Everyone in Star Trek is a role model.

Everyone in Star Trek is a role model.

Except Shatner, who is a poster-child for no self-awareness, though Kirk was a role model.

Old Trek is pretty great if you consider the time it was made. Every fan should check out the 1080p transfers of the series to see Roddenberry’s vision in its full glory. Their use of early-color-television thrills me.

I have a weakness for Shatner. In any case I think striving for Star Trek like morals (and many of the actors of the show came to realize this) makes us better people.
