That’s always tough. Lost my dog around the same age. Cherish the memories you had of him is the best thing you can do when you’re mourning a pet. It’s always tough though. A great dog and I am sure Barney was to the Bushes is family.

Poor puppy.

My (13 year old) dog had to be put down early in my freshman year of college. No one told me about it until I came home for Thanksgiving.

I still grieve over her.

Pets are family, I agree.

I am worried about my cats, who are now both 12+; I try to keep them healthy.

My mother has a rescued Scottie-not a mean bone in her body-unless you’re a cat or squirrel.

Terriers are like that: No matter how nice they are to humans, they’ll still chase anything their size or smaller that runs.

I still miss the dog I grew up with too. Love the dog we have now but the dog I grew up was. Man he was something special. Just a great dog. Not a mean bone in his body.

If we’re all sharing sad pet stories my 15 year old black lab died on my 20th birthday. should never have had him off the leash, he took a break for home and a minivan didn’t see him. This was after we had just got him home from surgery for those little fat lumps labs get. Weird year in general and that topped it.

Poor Barney, he was my favorite Bush. And a great White House pet. RIP Barney Bush.
