I imagine a San Francisco Republican is a Democrat most other places. But sheesh- the ACLU is a communist organization. Okay……..

Since there’s a Godwin’s law for Nazis, is there a similar one for Commies?

Not sure since there was only one Nazi regime as opposed to many Communist regimes. I do think there should be an addition to it though because people are just as ignorant of what communism is as they are of what Nazism is and was.

Turd Blossom, look at the dwindling band of kooks that constitute the California GOP, reflect on the fact that the rest of the nation is moving in California’s direction in terms of ethnic diversity, and despair.

Please continue, GOP.

For anybody who thinks that the national GOP will inevitably ditch the far right and tack back to the center to win elections again, California is the rebuttal to this theory. The California Republican Party is dead, incapable of winning statewide office and reduced to less than 1/3 of the legislature after the citizens removed the gerrymander which had existed to protect incumbents of both parties. But instead of moderating its policies to gain the support of a moderate voting population, California Republicans have decided that ideological purity in a losing effort is better than abandoning the far right. Why wouldn’t GOP voters nationally do the same?

But what else should we expect from a political party made up of old white suburban/rural residents who are resentful of the modern California. Harmeet Dhillon never stood a chance because she doesn’t share a background with the average California Republican, who are reluctant to support a Sikh from San Francisco as one of their standard bearers. While I have no desire for Republicans to win office in California (as the party presently is), I hate to see her attacked for being a civil libertarian. The GOP could have a rebirth (especially among younger voters, few of which identify as Republican) if they adopted a commitment to protecting civil liberties for all Americans, not just those who are white, straight and Christian.

Celeste Craig needs to be reminded that the ACLU was created because people of her ilk would discriminate against Jews. Evidently she has a problem with Jews as well.

You don't have the slightest understanding of the difference between government action and private action, and you have certainly destroyed any case you might otherwise have had with this Senator. -- Senator Gorton, to which Frank Zappa responds with "Is this private action?"
