Have you seen what Aleppo and Homs have become? They have gone through hell. Death Toll is now 60,000+, all because Assad could concede a good deal of power at the start.

Oh, and your no-stalinism is showing. As a Left Winger, I despise Authoritarian Governments, Syria is no exception. Not to mention that if you weren’t Alawite in Assad’s Syria, you had a real rocky road ahead of you.

And the Hashemite state is probably the least offensive of the bunch. Sorry, your support of “The People” seems to coincide with those like Stalin, Lenin, and Mao. For their particular “People” (see irrational ideologues), but against everyone else.

Skip all that , this occurs frequently in Wahabi islamic nations . The Taliban were good at this too . The fact that in islam your child is your property , should you kill your child , you’ll find sympathy in that islamic Wahabi jurisprudence.I have heard this story , and the blood money buisness is real . It’s the cases that don’t make it to the news that have been occurring for years upon years , perpetrated in Saudi culture . It’s very possible this guy will get what we would call a “slap on the wrist ” .
As for the previously stated “relationship with the Saudis ” ? its for Oil . Always has been ,and will be , until we are no longer dependent on Saudi Arabia and Opec for that matter for our energy requirments .

BIG TRIGGER WARNING. ALL OF THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!

They were monsters who slew thousands. Or have you not heard of the Bosnian Rape Camps. Here let me help you:

Women were kept in various detention centres where they had to live in intolerably unhygienic conditions, where they were mistreated in many ways including, for many of them, being raped repeatedly. Serb soldiers or policemen would come to these detention centres, select one or more women, take them out and rape them …. All this was done in full view, in complete knowledge and sometimes with the direct involvement of the local authorities, particularly the police forces. The head of Foča police forces, Dragan Gagović, was personally identified as one of the men who came to these detention centres to take women out and rape them.

-From the ICTY, trial of Kunarac

or this one:

The women knew the rapes would begin when ‘Marš na Drinu’ was played over the loudspeaker of the main mosque. (‘Mars na Drinu,’ or ‘March on the Drina’, is reportedly a former Chetnik fighting song that was banned during the Tito years.) While ‘Mars na Drinu’ was playing, the women were ordered to strip and soldiers entered the homes taking the ones they wanted. The age of women taken ranged from 12 to 60. Frequently the soldiers would seek out mother and daughter combinations. Many of the women were severely beaten during the rapes.

-From Seventh Report on War Crimes in the Former Yugoslavia: Part II , US submission of information to the United Nations Security Council

Also, go fuck yourself. I are essentially the equivalent of a Neo-Nazi. The Serbians made a damn huge effort to wipe the Bosnians out. Nice to know you are willing to accept the mass murder of Muslims. And Catholics too.

…………………………………………

This morning, I woke up to the sound of mortars near where I was staying in Salaheddine. We were on the way to an interview when people began warning us of snipers up the road. As we pulled off, several FSA fighters motioned to us, telling us to come this way — “there are a lot of bodies,” they said. I didn’t understand what was happening because of all the chaos around us.

As we climbed down to the river, we couldn’t believe the horror of the scene. The bodies were bloated and covered with blood; some with their hands tied behind their backs. Several were missing eyes. All were men, and a few of the victims appeared to be young boys.

Nearby residents began gathering at the banks of the river. A large number of police were gathering there, too, some of whom I recognized from an interview days before. One officer I knew gave me a type of perfume to put under my nose to combat the smell.

One by one, the victims were loaded into cars and taken to a nearby school, where relatives began to identify the deceased. I photographed the scene at the river for approximately 30 minutes before my driver felt we should leave due to the risk of snipers and mortars.

The police were having trouble moving the crowd of onlookers, including children, to make way for the bodies being dragged up the embankment. Upon seeing my camera, the crowds asked us to please “take pictures to show the world what happened here — to show what Assad is doing to the Syrian people.”

The O’Reilly Rule:

You cannot justify or excuse bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior.

Whatever is true about Iraq has no bearing on the moral nature of what happened in the former Yugoslavia.

It also bears saying that the abuse at Abu Ghraib was done in contravention to standing orders and upon discovery its perpetrators were sent to prison. Serbia ‘rape camps’ were openly known by the Serbian chain of command as such and their existence was actually lauded in many quarters.

Nice strawman. And nice complete avoidance of everything I said, including the part about NOT being American, dumbass 9_9

And from your own link:

The Serbs claimed they were battling “Islamic fundamentalism,” although the Muslims of Bosnia were overwhelmingly a secular people. In his strong religious faith, Mr. Izetbegovic was the exception rather than the rule.

Oh, but if you dare criticize the genocide the Bosnian Serbs committed, you’re siding with Nazis and Islamists. 9_9

Come to think of it, if you’re so keen on siding with anyone you think opposes Nazism and Islamic fundamentalism, shouldn’t you be all-in for Netanyahu’s government? Instead, you frequently criticize Israel while saying Assad is good compared to the alternative, and whitewashing his atrocities. So, you’re not even consistent according to your own fucked-up framework.

Don’t expect respect for your views when you engage in that kind of intellectual dishonesty.

re: #35 Gus

He’s a Putin-ist. And Abu Gharib was tiny compared to the rape camps in Bosnia.

And I should note, Bosnians were victims of the Nazis/Ustashe. A quarter of a million died at the hands of them. Those “Bosnian Muslim” SS Units? Well, that unit had to be supplemented by non-Bosnian Muslims.

Also, nice job to him for wanting to persecute Croats. He is an Orthodox Church faction douche. Anything “Western” or “Muslim” in his world view is evil. And by the time of the Croatian War of Independence, most of the big guys from back in the days of WWII were dead or dying. So most Croats were innocent of crimes. But to him, they all deserve ethnic cleansing, along with the Bosnians and Albanians. His little rage spew actually decreased my view of Serbia even more.

This explains everything about him, I think. I should note that the Orthodox Church’s penchant for wanting dominance in Government, green-lighting religious persecution, and industrial strength corruption has led them to being the smallest of the 3 between the Catholics, Protestants, and themselves. They are also shrinking.

Again, my solution would be having uprisings on the coast, followed by the country being invaded and partitioned.

Various parts of the country would go to certain nations. The Hijaz back to the Hashemites, the portions seized from Yemen back to Yemen, And not sure of the rest.

The only good stable government on the Peninsula is Oman’s. But Oman is very unique, especially religiously.

Adulterers getting their head lopped off , school children left to burn in a school house fire , because on their rescue , the remaining clothes on their body would violate some sick islamic dress code. Virtue police , no bibles allowed in the country . At one time Swiss Airlners were banned due to the Cross ,the SWISS national flag markings on the airliners , no Israeli made aircraft allowed into Saudi airspace . Saidis are sickos , their Wahabi islam anabbersation before mankind .
What in the hell do the Bosnians and Serbs got to do with this . They both kill easch other , the Serbs being better armed and more efficient In spite of bailing out the muslims in that conflict , terrorists are harbored there , and they have become enemies of the US .

Sad to see this human rights horror. Saudi Arabia, unfortunately, has a long history of exonerating child abusers. They still call one “Prophet”.

Yes, I know the standards of culture and behavior were different in 630 AD, just as the standards were different in 1770’s USA, but we, for the most part, acknowledge slavery as abhorrent while Wahhabi Muslims fail to see any flaws in a man who lived ~1200 years ago.

Mohamed, Islam, means many different things to different Muslims. Whether they be Shiite, Sunni, Wahhabi, Secular Muslims, etc. To interpret this news as being the result of the teachings of Mohamed is entirely wrong. There are many people in Saudi Arabia who I’m sure are troubled be this news. The majority of American Muslims would no doubt find this news just as repellent as any average westerner would. You can’t compare Mohamed to Jesus because of this. It’s not the religions, it’s the culture. This is where you failed Aligarr. By using an extreme interpretation of Mohamed’s words to castigate a mainstream that does not exist.

Shorter version. It’s not Islam, it’s the kingdom.

Must be difficult to be a Muslim. Every time a Muslim does something fucked up it gets stuck on their religion. My empathy perhaps stems from having Stalin and Mao attached to my atheism.

You ever notice how when a Muslim country does something it’s about Islam but when a Christian nation does something it’s not about Christianity?

All the more reason for Muslims & Jews to be friends, because we’re in the same doghouse.

re: #61 Gus

Put aside the word religion .Remove the words islam and christianity and look historically at the two people James attempted as an analogy. Forgetting what their subsequent followers did after their deaths , and going strictly by what is historically recorded regarding their behavior . If you cannot see the foolishness of such an analogy ..oh well ,
As for the comment on atheism being automatically connected to Mayo and Stalin , those who do , express the same ignorance , the difference being only on whether it be purposed ignorance or not . When I hear the word atheist , I think of names like Sagan , Einstein , Huxley or Darwin .
Mayo and Stalin initiated mass murder , having nothing to do with any alleged atheism , just as Mohammed engaged in slaughters , having nothing to do with islam . James mentioned “flawed character ” that’s were his failure is , and it would have evoked the same response from me had it been Budha , or the Hindu Ghandi for that matter . Or is this a matter of a notion that atheists are superior to religionists and thus capable of no wrong ? The Wahabi Sect of islam is no better than the Thuggees of India where killing is/was of no consequence , and based on personal desires and behavior more so than some renegade skewed religious principle .

I regard Harper well myself, though I’m an American, but #32 wasn’t the post to joke about. It was a very serious reply to a very bad thing having been said.
