Is it just my perception, or has this shit become non-stop?

Well, you know what they say: the amount of media attention for an event such as Newtown makes quite a few other potential shooters (who might never have actually acted) go over the edge so it tends to cluster together.
With the amount of attention for such shootings at the moment that alone would explain an increase in such events.

Ah, well, just another law-abiding gun owner, defending himself from tyranny. //

re: #1 ThomasLite

So what’s the solution, don’t let anyplace more than 50 miles from the site of a murder know that one’s been committed, so these people will know they won’t be remembered and will, what, kill themselves quietly instead?

What’s next, official damnatio memoriea?

Its a few blocks down the road from me. I will wait to see what the scenario was and who are the “students” involved before making any conclusions.

I read the SF Chronicle. There’s always a half dozen or so gun murders reported every day in Oakland/SF.

It’s always non-stop… in fact it’s so routine that it’s not even reported most of the time.
