Woman Found Guilty of False Reporting Hate Crime Attack to Face Sentencing
The momentum has changed - just five years ago mentioning that you were pro gay marriage at most blogs got you drug into long drawn out pile-ons and debates in comments where you were the lone voice, now you find that most are on your side & the the anti gay get routed quickly. Faking hate crimes and terror attacks against hate groups like FRC does not help at all. That moves that ball backwards on the field and this is a long game of inches that will take a generation - the LGBT community cannot afford the setbacks no matter how bright the future looks at the moment.
Police said Rogers faked a hate crime attack on July 22. She reportedly told police that three masked men broke into her home, bound her naked, and carved anti-gay slurs on her arms and stomach.
After the hate crime report, vigils were held across the state and country, with people donating money to help Rogers.
On August 21, Lincoln Police issued a warrant for Rogers’ arrest. They said after an investigation they found no evidence of a struggle at her house, no blood on the bedspread where she said the men cut her and they believed she carved the anti-gay slurs into her body or gave permission to someone to do it.
