Not really surprised here. I have heard about things from family in law enforcement.

What Dorner did was reprehensible and no one can or should condone it, but this is why there were people on #TeamDorner

He tried to change things from within and lost everything. Desperation creates desperate situations. And in this case, a heavily armed person who was desperate and had nothing to lose lost his own life after taking away several others who had nothing to do with him at all.

I hope that something changes at LAPD.

Not Only Do I Believe It, but I Lived It

Did he also murder people who had no responsibility for his alleged problems? Brian Bentley is the problem, if he can make a comment like that.

4 Kronocide  Mon, Feb 18, 2013 3:42:33pm

Bentley did not murder or threaten anybody and he can make a comment like that without being the problem. If he’s telling the truth, he’s not the problem, the LAPD is.

Bullshit. He implied sympathy for someone who committed mass murder, randomly, in response to what Bentley said he had sympathy for. Why do I need to make that distinction clear?

Empathy for something he’s personally experienced differs from sympathy. But one apparently has to have the capacity to empathize, which you apparently do not.

Empathy ? Misplaced empathy . So there are two alternatives for unjust termination ? Suicide , murder or both ?

Your semantic contortions are bullshit. There is a time and place for everything and this is not the time and place for this.

You apparently missed what I said above. I don’t support Dorner. At all. But I understand the feelings (something you again apparently have no capacity to do). The LAPD needs to change. For the officers and the citizens.

I understand feelings very well, and I understand that you like to feel good by taking any opportunity to lay into the LAPD whether relevant to the circumstances or not, regardless how obscene.

Bullshit.

re: #10 Achilles Tang

How about this? Fuck you. Better?

You don’t give a shit about the people of the city or the people on the police force? Fuck you. You think I’m laying into the LAPD? For no cause? Fuck you. You know better than a guy (who this post is about)? Fuck you.

And fuck your bullshit attitude, too.

12 Achilles Tang  Wed, Feb 20, 2013 5:54:47am

My attitude is that anyone who commits mass murder, random at that, in response to alleged wrongs has serious prior deficiencies that warrant firing from a police force, and to take the position that one is sympathetic to the alleged wrongs in this case shows a serious lack of moral judgment.

But you are capable of expressing your emotions, in your own way.

13 Gus  Wed, Feb 20, 2013 5:57:40am

Pardon me but fuck Dorner.

Agreed. But what about the guy this post is about. He didn’t kill anyone. Do we say Fuck Him, too? Or fuck the point he was making?

I’m just troubled that we’re making this point on the back of a serial killer.

re: #16 Gus

That’s my point exactly. Brian Bentley is *not* a spree killer (slightly different than a serial killer, but murder is murder!) It’s *his* voice I was referring to. It’s his experience where empathy (the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes) applies.

Dorner is dead. Good. He killed innocent people. He went out in the blaze of glory his mind apparently desired. Bentley did not. Do we ignore Bentley for Dorner? That’s unfair to LAPD officers and LA citizens.
