The first sentence needs editing.

Oh, and the mass of the Higgs Boson is turning out to be the next big challenge. While 5-sigma error level events were detected at the LHC, in the energy region in which the Higgs boson was expected, there are some differences between what the mass as detected and as expected.

I’m reminded of the “big bounce’ alternate theory to the big bang. And BTW this sets up great for a scifi story I have been working on for a few years. The basic idea is we mature through our universe, and then evolve to kick off another. Us in our own image so to speak.

What I think of is rain hitting the surface of a pond, each rain drop hitting the surface and rippling out being a new Universe.

I would take the theory with many grains of salt . And qualify it with , according to our present understanding ….which could change tommorrow . After all , we do not know or fully understand Dark Matter , Anti-Matter , Black Holes , Quasars , etc. At the moment the Higgs Boson is the smallest particle we know of . Those differences in mass might possibly indicate …another particle not yet detected . Seems the microcosm is just as baffling as the macrocosm .

Nonetheless it’s as interesting as hell .
