It’s a good thing that these white-power assholes are totally incompetent.

Transitioning to a new server and being too stupid to easily move the data is ridiculous.

That makes me happy that these nazi assholes can’t figure out the internet that well.

When your backup system is based on cassette tape, transitioning can be difficult.

Say’s he’s cobbling together a Frankenstein SCSI box out of our old servers to get the job done.

Anybody here who works with computers remember the last time you used a SCSI disk system? For me, it was back in the 90’s when I was with AT&T.

free republic is constantly asking for donations

why the self appointed bastion of free markup economics and self reliance can’t ‘monetize’ itself like other blogs so it doesn’t have to have a tin cup out all the time, i have no idea…

maybe they need to sharpen their free markup crayons

To be fair, it remained in use (later versions) on server systems well into this milennium (and many server type disks are still being sold with either SAS or SCSI/U320 interface as of this day…)

For some reason I don’t think JR is talking about SAS or SCSI/U320.

They should go back to printing pamphlets and handing them out on the street.

As a lurker on FR, I’ve noticed that the “freep-a-thons” go longer and longer each time. Seems like it takes 2.5 months to hit that quarter’s goal, and then BANG, 2 weeks later another one starts up. I know that some people were demanding to see things like real receipts and reports on the costs, but haven’t seen them on the site lately.

I think it’s hilarious how they (Freepers) like to talk about how all liberals employ group think, how liberals / socialists / communists / democrats (which are all the same thing in their minds, and many have stated outright), but if you’re on FR, just try suggesting that perhaps somebody other than a “TRUE CONSERVATIVE” could possibly love America too, or that “THE GAY’S”, or as they are often referred to “The Disgusting Disease Ridden Sodomites” (and not, I’m NOT making that up) could possibly not be the direct tool of Satan. The possibility that Israel (which I admit is in a very tough position in many ways) could possibly do anything wrong and see how long you survive before you get kicked from the system.

It’s truly group-think and a cult by almost any definition.

They should go back to printing pamphlets and handing them out on the street.

Using the FR model, the members would be the ones doing that, sending all the proceeds back to JR. That’s the way it works now.

JR normally doesn’t get involved at all, other than his quarterly rants at the start of every begathon and those damn server problems.

I am pretty sure FR can still get a donation despite the website being down.

I’m told the site is back up. I wonder if the freep’s over?

I’m thinking there’s probably no whites-only version of the Google ad network, and they wouldn’t want risk any mongrel ads appearing on the site.

Besides, why hassle with any work when racists are so willing to donate to have a place to comfortably hang out and hate reasonable people.

JR’s made it clear from the beginning. If he took advertising, he’d have to open his books and justify his numbers. No way in hell that’s ever going to happen.

Grifting over a third of a million a year isn’t bad for a guy living in Fresno. It has to put him among the top 5% of earners in the county.

Someone should go all Malkin on him, and take a look at his standard of living to see how well this grift is working.

If you’re having server problems I feel bad for you son - we got 99 problems but a glitch ain’t one.

We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, ...

4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter. We're in a whole new world of hating people based solely on their opinions on a few key issues, and since this is unexplored territory, our conversations about politics are usually only a couple notches beyond the "hold your breath until the other ...

LAPD Reformed as Federal Oversight Lifted, City Leaders Say
Los Angeles leaders say the Los Angeles Police Department has undergone a dramatic transformation since federal oversight of the agency was ordered 12 years ago. The dismissal Wednesday of the so-called consent decree, which arose largely out of the Rampart corruption scandal and addressed basic problems of accountability that stretched back decades, delivered a largely symbolic, but nonetheless important milestone for the LAPD ...
