re: #1 Dark_Falcon

I’m glad to know that sympathy for a group of people living under an occupation makes me a terrorist loving scumbag.

And a fuck you to you as well.

All in bold, and your subtitle reports hearsay as fact. What the fuck dude.

You misunderstand me, understandably given how short my post was. First, “War on Music” (WoM) is using the temporary nic of “Billy the Weatherman”, in praise of the admitted terrorist William Ayers*. Second, his call for “intifada” is a call for violence and death, certain to include terrorist attacks against both Israeli and Palestinian civilians (the latter by Islamist to control them). In my mind then, WoM has established himself as condoning terrorism. You have not; Therefore I was not calling you a scumbag. My words were directed at WoM and at him alone.

re: #4 Dark_Falcon

1) do you think that by being connected with Bill Ayers, a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, including sitting on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago for three years, mean that President Barack Obama is a “terrorism loving scumbag”? Surely you would concede that if Bill Ayers was such a dangerous terrorist, then the work done in connection between the two (the President and Ayers) would have barred Obama from becoming president.

2) going back to the selective translations by conservatives to make all arabs look scary - ‘intifada’ literally means “shaking off”, though it is popularly translated into English as “uprising”, “resistance”, or “rebellion”. It would not be out of bounds to call Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Yemen, Bahrain and Syria as ‘intifadas’.

These intifadas where almost universally supported and recognized as movements towards democracy. Considering that the PA and the occupation are no democratic and do not allow the expression of human rights by Palestinians, an ‘uprising’ against these systems of oppression is needed. That isn’t terrorism; that is popular, non-violent resistance. The reaction to popular non-violence resistance (live-fire, kidnappings in the night, tortured by Israel’s Shin Bet) is terrorism.

re: #5 Billy the Weatherman

The intifada bothers them because it shows what a lie the stance they have that the Palestinians are living well under Israeli occupation and apartheid.

I saw right wingers react the same way to South African blacks who dared protest how well they had it compared to other African nations, Palestinians should learn to love their little Bantustans that they will be blocked into.

7 Gus  Tue, Feb 26, 2013 9:12:57am

Because the 1st and 2nd intifada went so well.

It appears that some people don’t want peace and many people are being played because of their underdog sensibilities.

re: #7 Gus

The first intifada is the model - strikes, boycotts, barricades, tax refusal. From Wikipedia:

the Intifada did produce a number of results that Palestinians considered positive:
By engaging the Israelis directly, rather than relying on the authority or the assistance of neighboring Arab states, Palestinians were able to demonstrate their identity as a separate nation worthy of self-determination.
It broke the image of Jerusalem as a united, Israeli city.
The failure of the “Iron Fist” policy, Israel’s deteriorating international image and Jordan cutting legal and administrative ties to the West Bank and the U.S.’s recognition of the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people forced Rabin to seek an end the violence though negotiation and dialogue with the PLO.
The Intifada resulted in international attention to the Palestinians’ cause.
The Palestinians showed for the first time that there were two sides to the Israel-Palestine issue.
Many American media outlets openly criticized Israel in a way that they had not before.
The success of the Intifada gave Arafat and his followers the confidence they needed to moderate their political programme: At the meeting of the Palestine National Council in Algiers in mid-November 1988, Arafat won a majority for the historic decision to recognise Israel’s legitimacy; to accept all the relevant UN resolutions going back to 29 November 1947; and to adopt the principle of a two-state solution.
Criticism of Israel came from the United Nations, the European Community and the United States as well as the Arab states - which during the 1980s were concentrated on the Iran–Iraq War.
The European Community (later European Union) became an important economic contributor towards the nascent Palestinian Authority.
The Intifada empowered Palestinians to enter negotiations which lead to the Madrid Conference and the Oslo Accords.
The uprising can be linked to the Madrid Conference, and thereby to the return of the Palestinian Liberation Organization from their Tunisian exile.
The Intifada exposed many problems with the IDF’s conduct in the operative and tactical fields, and also the general problem of Israel’s prolonged control of the West Bank and Gaza strip. These problems were noticed, and widely criticized, in international forums.
However, the impact on the services sector, including the important Israeli tourist industry, was notably negative.

The first intifada is the model - strikes, boycotts, barricades, tax refusal. From Wikipedia:

What Palestine should be doing is demilitarizing and arresting their own terrorists in their midst. Instead, many are looking for any excuse to start another revolt or round rocket fire into Israel. This is especially true in the Gaza strip. No one even know the cause of this man’s death but immediately a Hamas official make the allegation that he was tortured. What the Palestinians need stop being hoodwinked by Hamas and get serious once and for all. Their first step should be the recognition of Israel and respect its right to exist.

Also, this has nothing to do with politics. Don’t copy and paste entire articles. You want to past about three paragraphs which forces the reader to continue reading at the linked article. I suggest an edit here either by you or Charles.

WoM is undoubtedly trying to troll you with the name choice, but I think it’s giving too much credence to a right-wing smear against Obama to continue to harp on William Ayers as the boogeyman.

My beef with William Ayers dates back to the fall of 2001, when a New York Times article on his terrorist past gained notoriety because it was published in the September 11th issue of that newspaper. By contrast, I didn’t even know who Barack Obama was until he won the Democratic Senate primary in Illinois in 2004.

My dislike of Ayers is independent of any feeling towards Barack Obama. My ire towards WoM has to do with Ayers entirely. It has nothing to do with Barack Obama.

re: #12 Dark_Falcon

My choice in a nic has everything to do with Obama and is independent of Ayers entirely. By attacking me as a “terrorism loving scumbag” you are by extension calling the President a “terrorism loving scumbag”.

So my question is: why do you hate America and it’s President?

The GOP’s Steve King Problem
Earlier this year, the Republican National Committee released a 100-page report detailing how the GOP needed to retrofit its agenda and soften its tone. But if Republican officials had wanted to save time, they could have issued a shorthand summary that read: Be less like Steve King. The Iowa congressman's outspoken conservatism embodies the kind of politics that, in the RNC's own words, alienates ...

I think "when" is a very important thing, but "what the f*ck!" is also a very important thing to ask. Just keep asking "what the f*ck?" I mean, why the f*ck bother? See what i mean? The important thing is, deal with the "when". "When" will open a lot of shit for you. "What the f*ck" really makes it easier to deal with it when you understand the "when".
