If you’re getting advice from Pat Robertson. You have more problems than Demon panties.

That New-Age girl I dated between my two marriages thought I must be blessed with advanced paranormal powers because I happened to have been born just 8 miles from Stonehenge and on the summer solstice.* Thoroughgoing skeptic that I am, I thought that was ridiculous but she had some demon panties that somehow influenced me not to say so, at least for a while.

*I don’t have any real figures, but I would guess that about 1/365th of the people ever born in Salisbury also arrived on the summer solstice, with the same proportion, obviously evil trolls, entering this world at the winter counterpart.

C’mon , your golf clubs have never been infested with demons ?

Recently my mom told me that I need to pray over the items, bind familiar spirits, and bless the items before I bring them into the house.

I think the bit I’ve bolded is from some other kind of supernaturalist mumbo-jumbo, rather than Christianity. I’m surprised Pat didn’t condemn that.

At the end of the day witches and Christians are in the same supernatural business.

Geez. What about “new” clothes that are made by Chinese that are Confucian or Buddhist or Animist? Then we have the Santeria who are in Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico. And if that’s not bad enough how about Haitian Voo Doo? GET THESE CLOTHES OFF ME!!!!

Actually, it’s common among the born-again/evangelical crowd. Trust me, I spent the better part of my teen years dealing with that crap. Better yet, just google it.

True story, as Pat would say: Dodge exorcism

Ditto on that. My ex started going to an Assembly of God church years ago. She dragged us to some of the sermons, and both the resident pastor and the visiting pulpit thumpers were all about this demonology stuff. There’s a demon for every known affliction, tendency, state of mind, etc., that is a “sin.” Serious crossing-over of occult terminology into Christian teaching.

These people are also just plain wacko.

It’s not just the golf clubs; baseball bats too.

But I pray to Jobu. And if he doesn’t listen, then to hell with him. Besides Jesus can’t hit the curveball.

I think washing the clothes will do …..exorcism of lice ,cooties etc .

How the IRS’s Nonprofit Division Got So Dysfunctional - ProPublica
The IRS division responsible for flagging Tea Party groups has long been an agency afterthought, beset by mismanagement, financial constraints and an unwillingness to spell out just what it expects from social welfare nonprofits, former officials and experts say. The controversy that erupted in the past week, leading to the ousting of the acting Internal Revenue Service commissioner, an investigation by the FBI, ...

Your Weekly Peggy Noonan Three Martini Column
We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, ...

4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter. We're in a whole new world of hating people based solely on their opinions on a few key issues, and since this is unexplored territory, our conversations about politics are usually only a couple notches beyond the "hold your breath until the other ...
