“The results of the study, announced Wednesday, reveal the 45-foot-wide meteor was destined to smash into Earth.”

Does one need a study to know that what did happened was certainly going to happen?

Yes, because it means that if we had been watching, we could have known it was coming. It wasn’t a freak accident, or some quirk of nature, or changed course based on something we did not (or could not) have expected.

You mean, it wasn’t a Centauri Mass Driver in action?

There are no freak accidents or quirks of nature , but simply physics and math . We didn’t know it was coming because we didn’t see it . A warning would be nice if possible . There’s supposed to be a close fly-by by an asteroid in 2029 which has the potential of mowing down satellites like bowling pins . Then there are those we have not yet discovered whose period may be bringing them back our way at any time .

The asteroids well suited to use by a mass driver have a greater iron content and are much less likely to explode.
