Unless it was your intention to start a flame war, hatchling, it’s unwise to post anything about Israel here. There are supporters of Israel, and there are people who are not. There are also those who try to be nuanced but they are regarded as enemies by both sides.

Welcome.

Your balanced statement on Israeli posting habits has made you enemies….

Lol, I am aware of the tensions that may arise. I return in a new form, less gung-ho this time.

More from Raw Story:

[Link: www.rawstory.com…]

On Sunday, the tension boiled over when Sadayev scored his first-ever goal for the club.

The Independent reported that many at Teddy Stadium cheered, but “hundreds” of members of “La Familia” stood up and walked out.

“The reaction to the Muslim players being here is not racist,” a 19-year-old fan named Akeeva explained. “But the club’s existence is under threat. Beitar is a symbol for the whole country.”

“It’s just a matter of being Arab,” a fan named Jacob concurred, referring to the fact that Sadayev is Muslim. “It’s not racism, they just shouldn’t be here.”

“Beitar Jerusalem has always been a clean club, but now it’s being destroyed – many of the other players are thinking of leaving because of the Muslim players being here,” he added.

For all our warts, I am proud of being an American. That sickens me right there, and it seems Israel is jumping down that dark rabbit hole.

re: #9 ProBosniaLiberal

Is it really, when 99% of the country, including most of the team’s own fans and the management and the players, find it equally sickening and have all but declared war on these few “hundreds” (more accurately, dozens) of aholes?

This has been a major issue in Israeli media and sports for months since before the Chechen players were even in the country, and “La Familia” is viewed and treated by everyone, for the most part, as folks back home view Fred Phelps and the Westboro nuts.

Since this became an issue by the way, Beitar’s rep as a whole has dropped (and it’s always been fairly low in the eyes of many Israelis due to a mix of many internal Israeli sociopolitical issues). The point is that no one agrees with the racist shmucks of “La Familia” except themselves. Israel is no more falling down the dark rabbit hole over these nuts than the US is over the Westboro freaks.

Disclaimer: The writer of these lines is a fan of one of Beitar Jerusalem’s longstanding league enemies and enjoys seeing them get crushed in league games …

Israel has shmucks like everywhere else, and I think this thread proves my point that everything to do with Israelis being naughty is blown right out of proportion and taken totally out of context to it’s neighbors and the world.

In an actual apartheid state he would not be allowed to play at all, the overreach of your statements does you no favors sir.

I don’t see how this is accurate at all. I’m nuanced. So are most people here.

Yeah, because US sports teams and fans are just totally non-racist.

And the European soccer fans aren’t racist either…

New Method for Producing Clean Hydrogen
Duke University engineers have developed a novel method for producing clean hydrogen, which could prove essential to weaning society off of fossil fuels and their environmental implications. Pope Francis rocked some religious and atheist minds today when he declared that everyone was redeemed through Jesus, including atheists. During his homily at Wednesday Mass in Rome, Francis emphasized the importance of "doing good" as a principle that unites all humanity, and a "culture of encounter" to support peace. Using scripture from the Gospel of Mark, Pope Francis explained how upset Jesus' ...

WAPO’s Glenn Kessler Gives Three “Pinocchios” To Claim of Doctored Emails
It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it.
