What I’d like is something that would connect to an iPad for ease of focus, as well as the other controls. I guess if I had a large Android tablet that would take care of it, but I don’t, and my phone really isn’t big enough.

That is exactly why I do not yet have an IPad. It would be a fantastic monitor/controller. But that would make those tiny yet expensive monitors from Marshall obsolete.

I’d guess an IOs version will come out soon.

I did buy DSLR controller for my Android phone, but without a device to attach it to the camera body it’s just easier to use Live View connected to a laptop. I guess a car GPS holder could be adapted, but I haven’t given that a try.

In my studio I tether to my laptop. I just like the idea of being able to hike in to a place and still have those features. But my laptop is big for video editing. 17” screen. A beast to carry about. Trade off.

CanonRumors says new Canon models will have built in wireless and a touch screen interface. But I bet they still make ya buy an intervalometer for exposures over 30 seconds or time lapse/interval shoots. I love the idea of a touchscreen control on the 7DmkII when that rolls out.

I’m ordering the cable from Amazon. Not much to lose by trying this. Plus I run my GoPro’s with that same phone. The smart phone has become pretty convenient and a powerful tool.
