The family of this poor bastard are about to get hit with a shitstorm of hate from the Jesus lovers for this. I hope they’re prepared for it.

Some of the opprobrium for this man’s pain ought to also be laid on Moqtada al-Sadr, since it was his Mahti Army that inflicted Tomas Young’s injuries.

I get that you have a reflexive tendency to mitigate any criticism of heroes Bush and Cheney regarding the Iraq War. It’s a dead ender’s mission, but you’ve chosen it and will apparently stick with the useless task of continuing to justify a war that even your party no longer cares about…just look how the GOP runs away when asked a question about Iraq—they never want to talk about it again. But here you are, still carrying their water.

Regardless, you could try not being a complete tool regarding everyone who’s suffered tremendously in Iraq.

That’s not ‘justification’, what I said was “place the blame as it ought to lie”. One reasonable assumption when the Iraq war was launched was that Al-Sadr’s father would act as a stabilizing influence among the Shiites. Instead, he was assassinated and his asshole son decided to ally with Iran. Muqtadā al-Ṣadr then proceeded to form a militia and mount an insurrection at the behest of a foreign power. None of these actions by the younger al-Sadr were inevitable reactions to the American presence in Iraq, and they led directly to Young’s being wounded.

I would respectfully submit that I grieve the injuries Tomas Young suffered, and if he could have decent quality of life restored to him I would demand the DoVA pay to see him given the care needed to make that happen.
